The Jurisdiction Committee of the Khmer Rouge tribunal met for the first time Tuesday to evaluate the special court's progress since its inception more than a year ago.

Tribunal spokesman Helen Jarvis told VOA Khmer that Tuesday's meeting would also focus on future steps.

"In the meeting with the judges, we evaluated our works and what the next steps would be," Jarvis said. "It was a general meeting, an internal meeting."

Jarvis did not elaborate.

Investigating judge Marcel Lemonde said the meeting centered around administrative questions, the equipment and the organization of the court.

Critics worry the court will not be able to complete its functions under its mandated timeline and could run out of money.
