METHUEN, Mass. -- A wild scene played out in a liquor store as workers turn the tables on a crook.

Douglas Brown, 47, was in court today on Friday, bandaged and bloody, after he allegedly attempted to rob a liquor store in Methuen on Thursday.

But thanks to the store owner, all he left with were bruises.

The robbery attempt was captured on a store surveillance camera, reportedly showing Brown entering the store with a gun and demanding money from the clerk. That's when the clerk's father, Vannarith Ross, who is also the store owner, walked in.

Ross and his son knocked brown to the ground using a fish sauce bottle.

"My son get up with the fish sauce bottle and hit him on the head so I can push him down to the floor," Vannarith Ross said.

They pinned him down while others in the store called police.

Ross says although it was a gruesome encounter he'd do the same thing again to protect his family, but he hopes it never happens again.

Brown was formally charged with armed robbery and faces between 15-20 years in prison if he is convicted. His bail was set at $250,000.

Damn. 15 to 20 years? Don't mess with a hard working Cambodian family. They fight for every penny.

Of course, their livelihood has been destroyed in Cambodia so they are not going to let their livelihood be destroyed again in their adopted country, where the rule of law is above all else. Well done!
