Regarding the country corruption ranking, Transparency International (TI) publicly issued its corruption ranking list for all 180 countries in the world. According to the Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper, Cambodia was ranked by TI as a country with corruption also: Cambodia ranks 162 on TI list, after Indonesia which ranks 143, but ahead of Laos which ranks 168. In Southeast Asia, with the exception of Singapore which has the lowest corruption ranking, Malaysia ranks 43, Thailand 84, Vietnam 123 on par with East Timor, and The Philippines 131. The countries which have the least corruption are Denmark, Finland, and New Zealand which all obtain a score of 9.4 (out of 10). Singapore and Sweden both receive a score of 9.3.

I think Hun Sen is the best possible leader for Cambodia considering the circumstances. There is not much money to go around in Cambodia, so corruption is natural for a country emerging from war and genocide. I am not condoning corruption, but I think a lot of people who cry about corruption are those who were not connected enough to benefit from it. They would be just as corrupt if they had the connections.

As a Vietnamese American, I think Cambodian people have to change your way of thinking if you want to end corruption. For example, you love and look up to Americans and Westerners, but you never thought about the fact that America killed about a million innocent Cambodian civilians in the early 70s. Sure, they were trying to kill some Vietnmese soldiers on your land, but they did not care if they also killed a million Cambodian civilians living there.

You treat white people like God in your country. You think they all good people and you turn a blind eye to the perverts who rape, molest, and exploit your women and children.

If you keep thinking this way, I am sorry to say that your future is in jeopardy. As long as you continue your hatred against us Vietnamese and side with Westerners who are only interested in screwing your women and children and being treated like your Gods, your country cannot make progress.

But like I said I am very happy that your leaders are wise enough to recognize the importance of friendship with Vietnam and set your country in the right direction.

I have lots of Cambodian friends and I love them sincerely and they do the same. As Asians living in America, we were all treated badly and looked down on by the white Americans. So we banded together and were able to become stronger as a group so that we would not suffer as much.

If Cambodians and Vietnamese can cooperate in America to achieve great things, I can't see why the two countries can be friends.

Cambodia and Myanmar are brother and sister in term of corruption and beside.

No, we are brothers because we have a lot in common. The most obvious is we shared the Mekong River with them up north near China. Thus, the Burmeses are Mekongers (one of us).
