Photo: AP(Kyodo) - Sam Rainsy, a former Cambodian finance minister, was reelected Saturday as the country's opposition leader by his self-named party's members during a two-day congress held in Phnom Penh.
Mu Sochua, secretary general of the Sam Rainsy Party, said Sam Rainsy was unanimously reelected by more than 6,000 members of the party at the congress, for another three-year term.
"Mr. Sam Rainsy has been elected as the president for the party since it was formed in 1995," she added.
Sam Rainsy's reelection comes just less than a year ahead of the next general election set for July 27 next year.
The SRP is the main opposition party. It won the second-most votes in 2003 general election, after the ruling Cambodian People's Party of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
In the current 123-member National Assembly, the CPP holds 73 seats, the SRP 26 and FUNCINPEC 24.

There were no real democratic elections. The results were easily predictable. It was just a show, come on!
Leading for a change for value people inspired by is a lot of hard work,but this value will be upheld and lasts.Being in touch with reality and able to make better is a tremendous satisfaction.Khmer people and the world are behind you.Now they see the better path to follow and will be successful.

Congratulation for Mr Sam Rainsy to be re-elected as leader of the party. we look foward for a change of Government in 2008. I hope there will be a big change for Cambodia toward new development to put Cambodia back on track with the international community. Cambodia is presently among countries of ruling by mafias leaders. I hope these leaders will disparate in this two years from this world.
My first expectation is to see all
-Cambodian army will be controled by an accademy of National army and they will live in the baracks instead of destroying trees for their bosses.
-All local provincial governors and mayors are to be elected by people instead of by buying through the Prime Minister.
-Immigration Ministry to be set up.
-Land tax to be intoduced and be implemented.
-Land re-distribution. Noone is allowed to own more than 10 hectares of agriculture lands, 2 sections of residential lands etc.. and etc..
-All government officails and their spouse will be allowed to run their own businesses while working for the State.
-All military leaders and government officials cannot join political party. If they join political party, they should resign from their present post.

Samrainsy is a main leader in SRP. He must be implicitly or explicitly re-elected in present transitional Cambodia. Congratulation Mr. Rainsy.
However, I am still not satisfied with your prime ministerhood being...my suggestion is, among present Khmer leaders, you are best...but you need to hone and sharpen your way of leadership including concise public speech, politics essential-focused speech, human resource management effectiveness, win-win strategies.....etc

the Youn Hanoi is very smart and has carefully calculated all of the possible risks for 2008 Election. Therefore, Husen could win easily, not because of a fair election, but because of the cheating from the CPP. Here the listing of its cheating strategy list:
. About 4 to 5 million Youns who are currently living in Cambodia are eligible for voting
. National Election Committe (NEC) is supporting CPP for fairly and legally cheating
. CPP has local and national police and military personnels that can be used to intimidate our Cambodian innocent people at any given times it wants
. CPP has all of the Mafia group, gansters, and the crooks on its team for any actionalble items on their black lists
. Kem Sokha 's HRP, which is rumored to be side with the CCP, could take some votes for SRP from 2008
Thus, SRP needs to work very hard to get through this 2008 election. His party may gain some seats at the Natianal Assembly, but may not 50 + 1 seat as he hopes for.
Sam the best will be the next Khmer Priminister in 2008.
