Koh Santepheap carried in its online edition on 12 September 2007 a report saying that a small Cambodian political party -- Hang Dara Cholana Pracheathippatey [Hang Dara Democratic Movement] -- has requested the United Nations [UN] not to prosecute Khieu Samphan, one of the top leaders of the Democratic Kampuchea/Khmer Rouge regime.
The Koh Santepheap report said:
"The Hang Dara Democratic Movement [HDDM] on 4 September issued a statement saying that the HDDM hopes and firmly believes that the UN will be successful in getting justice for the nearly 2 million Cambodians killed during the Khmer Rouge regime but asked the UN not to prosecute Khieu Samphan in the Khmer Rouge tribunal."
Continuing the Koh Santepheap report said: "This is a strange statement at a time when it is not yet known whether the Khmer Rouge tribunal would accuse Khieu Samphan but a request was made to acquit Khieu Samphan."
Still according to the Koh Santepheap report in Cambodian:
"Kong Bunthoeun, HDDM acting leader, said in the same statement that if Khieu Samphan was accused in the Khmer Rouge tribunal, then the HDDM will also request that countries such as China, the United States, Russia, Vietnam, and Thailand, also be accused."
The Koh Santepheap report also said: "This party [HDDM] further said that Khieu Samphan is a Cambodian hero and that there is no reason for him to be involved in the killing. The [HDDM] party always welcome, support, and protect Cambodian political personalities who are nationalists, not lackeys of foreign aggressors, and not stained by blood such as Khieu Samphan."
Concluding the report in Cambodian in the widely-read pro-government Koh Santepheap paper said:
"Reach Sambat, spokesman of the Khmer Rouge tribunal, could not be contacted for explanation on 11 September. Even though his telephone rang several times, there was no answer".
The Koh Santepheap report said:

Hang Dara is one of the Khmer Rouge himself too. He needs to be stand on trial like Khieu Samphan too. Don't be stupid to call him innocent. He is responsible to all the killings committed during Khmer Rouge; therefore, he is one of the gang leader including Hun Sen, Chea Sim, Heng Samrin, Sok An, Sar Kheng, Hok Lundy, Tea Banch, Hing Bun Heang, Tep Vong, Ngot Nget, Keat Chhun, etc... All of them are Khmer Rouge and need to face the court.

That's a good news ! Khmer Rouge leaders are heroes. If everybody cambodians saw that's way, I think next year every cambodians will all die. Because they know how to self extinguish (exterminate). It's took only around 100 crazy men(pol pot,ien sary, khieu samphorn ..., hun sen, chea sim,uk rabun, keat chhun..khun sodary, men sam orn...etc) to kill 2 milllions in 4 years. Hi people. The Problems in Cambodia are not one problems, there are more than one problems that Cambodia has to face. You people cannot just look at the pictures you see on the wall or the show, you have to dig it up and look for before the French protectorate, then came from that.
The problems linked from before French protectorate until the genocide and today.
The true story is behind the pictures.
Cambodia before the French protectorate was controled by Thailand and Vietnam, and go from there. Don't blame King Sihanouk. He was born to serve under such bad time. Well Cambodia is going through bad time since Thai sacked Angkor. The King did his utmost to save his country.
Once Cambodia freed from Vietnam and Thailand and she got two northern province back, but then the French brought the Vietnamese back to torture Cambodia when the French hired the Vietnamese to handle these two countries state affair.
Then, the Vietnamese betrayed the French and they started building the army and created indochinese Communist party and recruited Khmer Viet Minh and then Khmer Rouge. Two purposes why Ho Chi Minh built the army: to swallow Cambodia and Laos and to protect from China. China wants to take Vietnam to be part of one China.
There're too much problems in Cambodia and the problems of war between Communist against Capitalist would be spread into Cambodia, can't stop it. First the Viet Cong intended to swallow Cambodia and Laos, that's the reason went to China. If he chose the US, the US would do the same as the French did, just look at how they make business with Vietnam today after bombing them killing about 3 million of the Vietnamese.
Samphan was Sihanouk's intelligence team whom he sent to enter with the Viet Cong/Minh. Guess what the Viet Cong/Minh were all over in Cambodia especially in the countryside, and the poor people love them. Because the Viet Cong/Minh treated them with care and respect so they won the people hearts. Samphan was not with Vietnamese but China and so is King Sihanouk.
The genocide was the result of two faction of Khmer Rouge China vs. Vietnam. These two did not trust each other, so one faction trying to frame another faction, and the killings of the innocence begun.
I think the Vietnamese faction killed Pol Pot and Ta Mok, and then they made a deal with China.

Why is it so difficult for you to understand why Khmer Rouge killed Khmers. It carried from Mao Tse Tung to Ho Chi Minh and to Communist Lao and Communist Cambodian. The communist first targetted the poor at the country side, because those people are too ignorant and sure they will kill even their own parents. X prince suphanavong stabbed his eldest son by his own hand to show his faithfulness to Communist. He took the knife and stabbed into his son chest, and grabbed his son heart out.
38 millions or may be 40 million Chinese were killed by Mao Tse Tung, and million killed by Ho Chi Minh. One thing though the Vietnamese rather kept it silent for themselves and move on to rebuild their country. Polish people and about more than 2 million many were women raped and killed by Soviet troops.
From study about Cambodia's troubles from the war of the past history with the neighbors Cambodia may be a lot worse than this, if the Vietnamese took the country by force and killed all Khmers then throw them all the river like Lon Nol did to them.

If you go back and read the history about 12 million Khmers were killed during 12 century because of the wars, and around a few hundred thousand Khmers survived.
Cambodia is still on the world map, and blaming on King Sihanouk is not right.
Samphan was a spy of King Sihanouk. King Sihanouk was a friend of China only. But the deal between Vietnam and China I think King Sihanouk became quiet after he cursed Vietnamese "Yuon chea ah krapeu.." Vietnamese ceded a big piece of land to China not long ago, so what next keep wathing.
King Sihanouk created his spies (Khmer rouge like Samphan. Hu Yun, Hu Nim..) to enter inside the strong hold of Khmer Rouge (Viet faction). Hu Yun, Hu Nim were killed because of the two factions did not trust with each other.
I suspected King Sihanouk may have created Lon Nol too. Just a thought but I am not sure. But one thing that came into my mind? When the CIA asked Lon Nol to kill King Sihanouk, Lon Nol refused. Why did he refuse???????

Because Lon Nol was a good, honest and loyal Khmer leader in the recent Khmer history we Khmer never have.
Lon Nol never and ever made a coup d'Etat on 18th March 1970. It was Sihanouk himself who ran away from Cambodia for he can no longer control YUONS(Vietcong)inside Cambodia territory.
It was Sihanouk own parliament who gave a vote of no confident in Sihanouk for he refuse to return from France to Cambodia to face the music and then go to call China and YUON's commnists to kill his own innocent Khmers include his own children and grand children.
Sihanouk is the Khmer cancers.
All Khmers may tolorate him, only if he lead a Khmer people power revolution to kick 5 million YUONS out of Cambodia and make friend with the USA government as soon as possible.
Also Sihanouk must stop blaming Lon Nol for he will receive back fire if he continue to do that.
