Increase in the number of traffic accidents in Phnom Penh

The number of traffic accidents in Phnom Penh during the month of August has increased significantly as compared to July. According to traffic police report, in August, the number of traffic accidents was 74, causing 28 deaths, and 102 injuries. In July, the number of traffic accidents was 61, out of which 16 died, and 106 were injured. Within the entire country, in August, the number of total traffic accidents was 450, causing 125 deaths and 719 injured. This latter number of accidents in Cambodia includes the number of accidents involving 190 small and large size cars, 43 various vehicles, 31 pedestrians, and 448 motorcycles. Based on the number of people involved in accidents, there is an average of 4 people who died every single day.

Recently, the new traffic law have been launched and implemented in order to reduce traffic accidents. Will the new law will help reduce accident???

Traffic rules in Cambodia are created by individual. Nobody know exactly what traffic rules suppose to play. If you've got a stop by police, just pay him there, and you'll be freed. There are no records of you in the system what so ever. Motorists don't care if they got to stop by police next time.
