NRP activist shot and killed

One NRP activist in Thmar Puok district, Banteay Meanchey province, was killed by an unknown assailant in his home in the evening of 10 September, while he was sleeping. RFA reported that Kim Oeun, a 72-year-old NRP activist from Kauk Romiet commune, Thmar Puok district, Banteay Meanchey province, was shot by an armed assailant in his home in Ta Kov village, at about 10:30 PM. He died on the spot. Moeun Sarath, a NRP representative in Banteay Meanchey province, said that Kim Oeun defected from Funcinpec in October 2006 to join the NRP, and that he does not know the actual motive of Kim Oeun’s killing. The deputy police commissioner for the Thmar Puok district said that the killing of Kim Oeun was not political, and that he suspected that it could be that Kim Oeun is accused of witchcraft.

Lucky for that old man! At least he won't suffer of hunger like the young next generation. More and more rich and poor people are like heaven and hell. In 1993, we can't differentiate which one is rich and which one is poor. Now in 2007, you go to the richest cities like Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, you're walking on the sreet and you point your finger to one person. I am sure that 95% of a chance that person is poor.
