ECCC questions former DK top leader

Nuon Chea, former second top leader of the Democratic Kampuchea (DK) from 1975 to 1979, was questioned by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia (ECCC), officials said on Wednesday.

Nuon Chea was arrested in accordance with the warrant of ECCC, spokesman Reach Sambath told reporters at ECCC in the outskirts of the capital.

"During an initial appearance for Noun Chea on Wednesday, he will be informed of the charges against him," Reach Sambath said, while refusing to disclose what kind of charges he will face.

"It depends on the co-investigating judges who file charges against the former leader," he added.

According to a statement issued by the co-investigating judges on late Wednesday, they charged Nuon Chea for crimes against humanity and war crimes and placed him in provisional detention.

Previously, Nuon Chea told local media that he was not afraid to stand at the court for what happened in the era of DK, which was widely held responsible for the death of people over starvation, over working, torture and lack of medicine.

Nuon Chea was born in 1927 in Battambang province and graduated with law degree from the Thamarsat University in Thailand.

He was former president of the Cambodian National Assembly from 1976 to 1979 and acting prime minister from September to October, 1976.

The Viet Rouge agents are in a very tight security in Cambodia to make sure no testimony links to them like Pol Pot and Ta Mok did.
If Noun Chea dares he too will be dead by a slow poison liquid into his stomach. Noun Chea will be dead and all the Chinese faction will be all dead, except the Viet faction.

I bet Hok Lundy is on the phone with Hanoi to stay alert.

How come no UN forces to protect the witnesses huh?
