16 years after the Paris Peace Agreements: Cambodia is becoming more and more Vietnamized

16 years after the Paris Peace Agreements:

Cambodia is becoming more and more Vietnamized

In 2007, almost every week, the number of “friendship” visits between Hanoi and Phnom Penh by communist Vietnamese leaders has multiplied, along with the signing of “cooperation” agreements in all fields, such as political, judicial, parliamentarian, military, administrative, economic, technology, cultural religious, etc… with their Cambodian counterparts. For the Cambodian leaders, these are obviously a systematic cooperation-alignment of their parties, of the national institutions at all levels, and of all the activities in Cambodia with those in Vietnam. That is how a communist Vietnam came to teach to a liberal Cambodia, for example, on how to create laws, how to organize internal elections, how to manage its economy, how to broadcast information, how to develop its literature, how to supervise the youth, and how to rule religious practice of Cambodians. Any opposition to this domination by Hanoi is punishable by jail sentence, or by kidnapping “sentence” and deportation to Vietnam by the secret police, such as the case of the alleged crime against “the Cambodia-Vietnam” friendship accused on Venerable Tim Sakhorn.

At the same time, after some 5 million Vietnamese people are counted in Cambodia between 1979 and 2003, the wild colonization of Cambodia by Vietnamese “immigrants” is being pursued unabated throughout Cambodia, thanks to the illegal agreements dated from the 80s, and thanks to the protection of Associations of Vietnamese people already established in Cambodia. Currently, Vietnamese people form the majority in Cambodia eastern provinces, such as Svay Rieng and Prey Veng, and with the so-called “common economic zones,” the Vietnamese in fact control the economy and the administration in these two provinces. Higher north, our provinces of Kampong Cham, Kratie, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri and Stung Treng are again under the domination of Vietnamese troops, militias, workers and their families, again thanks to the “economic cooperation,” with huge land concessions – and national sovereignty – lasting 70 years of more, granted by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) directly to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). Similar concessions were also granted in the provinces of Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear.

At the end, nobody talk or dare talk about the forced annexations by Hanoi of the Koh Tral and Krachak Ses Islands in 1982, as well as a large swath of Cambodia maritime territories. The so-called “historical waters and common waters between Vietnam and Cambodia” are totally under Vietnam’s law and boot. Furthermore, the Vietnamese forces arrogate itself the right to control the entire maritime space located in front of Cambodia’s costs in the province of Kampot: the weak vessels of Cambodian fishermen who are found there, risk being sunk by Vietnamese patrol boats, or they risk being arrested by the Vietnamese guns, and even last month, Cambodian fishermen from Kampot who were protesting the incursions of Vietnamese fishermen in Cambodian waters, were taken and severely beaten by the Vietnamese maritime police from Koh Tral island, before they were later released.

Therefore, the Vietnamization of Cambodia inexorably moves forward in great strides. Those among the Cambodians and foreigners who concluded and promised to respect scrupulously, the October 23, 1991 Paris Peace Agreements on Cambodia, in order to restore the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and inviolability of Cambodia against all external aggressions and interference – from Vietnam, in particular, which occupied Cambodia militarily – shamefully remain silent. Some even found “normal” this unremitting invasion of the “weak” Cambodia by the “powerful” Vietnam.

In reality, the Paris Agreements were not elaborated or adopted by the governments uniquely, but they were adopted for the Right and the Action of the citizens who can find in them their landmarks and their inseparable guaranties.

Cambodian citizens must continue to protest, they must support the legitimate protests by the victims, they must demonstrate against the Cambodian Government and its accomplices. Cambodian citizens must protest against the Superpower and Powerful governments which maintain the corruption and the dictatorship of Mr. Hun Sen and his CPP. Cambodian citizens must, at the very least, write to these governments, even personally, to alert them and to ask them to honor their engagements for a fair application of the Paris Agreements which they also signed. Cambodian citizens must tell these governments that their support to this regime must come to an end, if they sincerely want peace for Cambodia and the wellbeing for its citizens.

The Cambodian citizens must react, and they should not expect anything from those who betrayed them and abandoned them, if they want their Nation to still survive.

any plans? how we going to win VN? they're getting stronger and stronger!!!! talk to the hands!!! we need action!!!!

We must be united in the opposition party.
In order to win, we must have only 1 opposition party ( not 3).
I suggest Sam Rainsy to find a solution quickly.

How one can accomplish that since each character, Rannridh, SamRaingsy, Kem Sokha, wants own stage all along?

Coalition of Khmer Patriots for 2008

The best result is removing the present leaders, who are selling khmer and khmer land out. These are leaders that are ruining the countrying. I mean take them out by sniper that is, one at a time. They are useless, and only make things worst. They are all working for CPP.

Thank you for your article (BCB/KI). I am interested in objective evidents for "common economic zones" showing that Vietnam is "in fact control the economy", as well for the rest of provinces mentioned in your article. For example, is there any Khmer businessmen that try to open business in mentioned provinces and were turned away by the Viet. I would love to protest but I want more evidents that is all. Thank you.

Dont worry the power of "pahok" is to strong for the vietcong to contained !

What goes around will come around. Vietcong will regret what they are doing to khmer krom, laotion, and cambodia.

The thai is so stupid, if they are smart, they should help laos and cambodia. Cause eventually, Vietcong gonna do also to the Thai.

It doesn't pay to do crime, The vietcong will to do the time. Crime doesn't PAY ! vietcong is committing alot of crimes. They don't have any respect for any right and wrong, law or international law.

remember in the 60's " vietnam war " . I hope to see another one in vietnam. Maybe China or Russia drop a big on them soon.

Im really sorry to say. But vietnam is just to un-just to it neighbor. Causing too much suffering to laos and cambodia and even it own people.

May hell come to vietcong

Coupe du Monde de Pétanque 2007
16-10-2007

A word to the wise:
All overseas Khmer posting so passionately on this website should go back to Cambodia to mobilize the masses to vote the current government out of office in 2008. Only when this government is gone will there be a change in Cambodia's relationship with Vietnam, one on equal terms. Only a general voting rights drive in Cambodia can bring about change, and only Khmer people can do this in the important country-side. Currently, the CPP either simply buys the votes or threatens voters. Only the influx of better educated overseas Khmer, who need to be fearless, though, can do this job. The rural population are more worried about a full belly right now than the future.

Khmers oversea are not khmer in their lists. If you want to get in the lists. It's take you 6 or more months to get in the list of the ministry of interior and cost to you more than 300 us.

Yes, Cambodia becoming Vietnamized, and Vietnamese becoming Cambodianized. Isn't that true everywhere else with Khmer and France, US, UK, ..., and AU? What is a bunch of racist here?

CPP has to take responsibility for the survival of Cambodia. Paris Peace Agreement on October 23, 1993 is the heart and sould of Cambodia. It would be recognized by the nation to break a day for commemoration....

CPP is continuing to abuse Paris Peace Agreement with the excuses of Southeast Asian association membership and create current fake freedom of media.

Why fake? because 90% of national media is controlled by CPP (Khiev).

It is very different.
We live in France, we pay much taxes and help the country to prosper. We work very well.
We never want to colonize this country.

The vietcong always want to destroy Cambodia and its people, to control the whole land of Cambodia.
But as they can not use wars to take our country , they use immigration.

Normaly Khmers are not racists, except for some people ,but we have to put all illegal immigrants out to protect our country.

Cambodia must belong to Khmers.

Anonymous said...

Yes, but 90% of the internet is controlled by opposition.

Anonymous said...

Yes, 2:32, Cambodia belongs to Khmer, but not Ah Khmer-Yuon nor Ah Khmer-Oversea. They have their own country already. No one on this planet owned two countries.

To anonymous at 2:22

You write: "Normaly Khmers are not racists, except for some people ,but we have to put all illegal immigrants out to protect our country."

Why didn't you write: "Normally German are not racists, except for some people, but we had to kill all Jews to protect our country."

Well, well, well: the old and new generations of Cambodians keep blaming the Vietnamse - while everything is sold to China.
The Cambodian politicains support this racism of course (because it hides there own incapacity to manage a country, their unbelievable stupidity and their corruption, and cause of the tea money they get from China).

So Cambodia will still stay retarded for many, many years...
I only hope a new generation will be able to change Cambodia..

Gentleman

May I ask you who sse that Paris peace Agreement continued to be violated, forward request to countries committed to put more pressure to Camboidian PM to implement the national constitution.

It seems that after meeting of experts in July, Vietnam push integration to a next significant level. Those areas in economic, defence, construction...and so for
before loosing grip of Cambodia.

Once again, may I pledge your assistance from khmer nationalits
abroad to actively bring these matters collectively to their government attention for help, also in Australia where tremendous effort made by former senator Garet Evans.

Please all khmer nationalist who eager to see changes complied by government of Cambodia, gather for a discussion over the matter. It is time as election is coming up in Australia.

Sincerely

Neang SA

Wrong, we did not violate any peace agreement. It is just some part of it are unrealistic to implement until later, while other parts need to be voided because of it's impractical and could potentially causing war in the region and destroy everything we work for and put everyone in extreme poverty again.

There is no need to waste time and energy to compromise with the Vietnam government. Don't forget their goal is "expansionism". And they have the upper hand since HunSen is under their thumb!

Only mass demonstration in the whole country would deter them? What's the chance?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but you are talking history of ancient era. 21st century Vietnam has one of the best education system in the region, and they know how to control their population. So they needn't to expand like they do in ancient era.

I did not see CBC issued any reactions when Khmer authorities included Supreme Buddhist Patriarch Tep Vong and comrades forced Ven. Indapanna Tim Sakhorn to defrock againsta his will and practice.

Why CBC needed to mention Ven. Tim Sakhorn in its text now?

Anonymous said...

Well, let me put it simpler for you: if any Ah Khmer-Yuon come to Cambodia to practice KKF propaganda, we will defrock them and deport them back to Vietnam again. I hope you can see the picture now.

To 11:45PM!

The Vietcong government has created one of the most vicious racist institutions in the world involving deportation of any Khmer who dare stand against the Vietcong racist policy!

There are 10 million of Khmer Krom people who are currently living under the Vietcong racist policy in Khmer Kampuchea Krom and for a fool(11:45PM) not to call the fucken Vietcong government a racist is mind boggling!

Fool stop blaming the victim! You can't simplify the Khmer Krom people more than any human regarding their basic human right!

Fucken moron and stop promoting Viet dog eating culture in Cambodia!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but Ah Khmer-Yuon evil don't deserved any human rights because they are nothing more than a rotten pieces of shits that stink the entire region. They should all be buried in the mass graves to keep their ill-smelling away from civilization.

I think Cambodia nowadays become more and more influenced by China. Look at China towns, Chinese stores, illegal Chinese workers, Chinese biggest school outside of China. Chinese everywhere and unfortunately Khmer Chinese are the richest people in Cambodia. Do you dare to mess around with those Chinese? The answer is "No"
