Prime Minister Hun Sen made the claim to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) delegates and President, in the morning of 23 October, that his government is successful in bringing land reform in Cambodia.

Ieng Sophalet, Hun Sen’s spokesman for the meeting between Hun Sen and the IPU delegation, indicated that the meeting held between Hun Sen and Mrs. Ann Clwyd, a MP and IPU President, at the National Assembly, was to allow the IPU to understand about land and education problems in Cambodia.

Ieng Sophalet said: “The direction of the visit to Cambodia by the parliamentary delegation at this time, is to understand the problem of land reform in Cambodia, as well as the education issue in Cambodia. In response to the land issue problems in Cambodia, which the delegation wants to know about, Samdach (Hun Sen) said that Cambodia is inserting numerous reforms into the government rectangular strategy. And, the reform in this strategy was put into application and was successful when it comes to all these land problems.”

Regarding the land problems, opposition leader Sam Rainsy said that the resolution brought forth by the government was not successful yet because land disputes bring hardship to a number of people still.

Sam Rainsy said: “I believe it is contrary to what the government says. I don’t agree with it because it does not go down smoothly anywhere, there’s no success anywhere, we only see an increase in the number of land disputes, and they become more severe as well. The victims are being chased out of their homes, their lands are being confiscated, therefore, this is not a measure of success, it’s a failure and a major concern for all the Cambodian people.”

SRP MP Son Chhay indicated that the IPU delegates and the IPU President do not seem to trust the government report at all. He said that the government claimed it successfully resolved the land dispute problems, but yet there are many people protesting about land disputes in Phnom Penh.

Chum Bunrong, spokesman for the National Authority for the Resolution of Land Disputes (NARLD) said that, in the first 6 months of 2007, the NARLD received 116 complaints, and it managed to resolve some of the complaints through various expertise organizations.

2:30PM One day, when You have to eat thrash, you will understand why We don't need Hun Sen.
Or maybe, you have sell your pride to Hun Sen and acting like a spy in this website.
2:30PM Are you blind both side or what?
Take for an example, in December 2005, Hun Sen has forbidded the exportation of rices. Then in April 2007, He announced proudly that the exportation of rices is at the same level as Sangkum Reast Niyum. Bullshit, we can do math too. It's take 2 years to equal Sangkum Reast Niyum.. (2005 & 2006).. I am sure what I am saying, I have heard this forbidden of exportation on the radio, and then one of the vice-president of Chamber of Commerce of Phnom Penh confirm to me. The reason is that they think that cambodians would not have enough rice...Sincerly, I already understand the stratagem. And what i am concerned at that time is the stomach of cambodians.
2:30PM Do you know that agriculturors loan money to make rices? And the interest rate is so high at Cambodia. With this forbidden of exportation, Agriculturors have suffered. And now, some of them, are still paying the interests...

Khmer Canadian that don't want to see another Khmer Rouge.

10:33, stop comparing the 60's to present time. We are not quite as rich as we were yet. You must understand that it is so easy to lose you life saving, but quite not so easy to get it bag. In the 60's, what we all enjoyed is something that he have saved up for century after century, and when you lose all that, you can't just get it back just like that, dude. Don't be ridiculous.

the ignorant leader like this hun it was opportunist ,but it turn to real it won't go no where because the monkey had no base of real leaders ,so the country has to fuck up like that, until we do some change.

Nonsense, you must be talking about another planet. On earth, Hun Sen has developed more roads, bridges, power grids schools,..., and irrigation systems than any leaders had ever done historically. Thus, he should be the man to lead Cambodia out of the mess that was created by your westerner trained idiots. Get the picture?

10:39AM Who brought the 60s. matter?
It's Hun Sen. Khmer canadian is right. I think you're the one who ridiculised yourself.
Hun Sen lie to us that rice production is really comparable to the sangkum reast niyum. You got the information that you need to know, or maybe, you want to ignore. And you think that 10:33 PM is ridiculous.
Are you another CPP ??? or what?

About the road construction... for your information .... 3:33AM... rural road come from the donor countries.. under the name of ministry of rural development.
And provincial road and bridges, it's came from the debts. So, of course, We have build the road. And how now, how will We do the payback ???
That's why We don't Hun Sen too long. We need someone who can build strong economy for our cambodian's people and find a good way to payback the debts.
Schools... I couln't consider building is a development, if they don't find money for the teachers.... Rean cours... everytime.
We live in the western, but, we have eyes and brain...!!! Get the picture ???

5:20, It doesn't mean nothing if the rice production today is equal to the sankumreaneayum, or many people drive better car, more people watching color TV instead of Black&White. With the lower population (about half of today population,) the sankumreaneayum is still far richer than us in present time. Moreover, it doesn't mean that the sankumreaneayum government is better than us either because they have Cambodia life saving at their disposal, and the Hun Sen government get practically nothing to work with, in comparison. Get it?

Anonymous said...

Not necessary, that is up to individual. It is no difference moving to Vietnam, Thailand, or America. If you don't have what it take, you will be slave in all three places. On the other hand, if you work hard, you will succeed, and able to buy land and raise family .... or what have you.

between slaves in others countries better than become to be a master leader of ignorant that have no prestige ,value and morality I prefer to be self's slavery than triple slave 1=your self 2-government 3 the low lives country Viet and be fore you are dying just cry out for food and freedom like one experiences that Cambodian PPL had been through you know what I mean don't you if you are need more explanation I feel free to help and guide you out of the Vietnam slave

7:51 AM
To the place that you could be your self,OK because every day in this side the smell of your country it has never be good only dumb, stupid and no brainers for you personal it okay cuz you are tiny fish but for your leader and master damn you all should commit suicide because that might be curse from Ankor,so next time try to vote to the better leader and do not try to put us abroad in your shoes because ,we are all not the same why we escaped from that hell OKAY.

Anonymous said...

7:51, we are ourself. I don't know Khmer in public nor in office who speak Vietnamese, worship Vietnamese Religion, Observing Vietnamese Holidays, ..., or Wearing Vietnamese Clothing. Okay, maybe just one or two vietnamese hats here and there, and we do eat a bunch of Vietnamese foods, but all that had been with us for centuries now. Also we don't just eat Vietnamese food but we also eat Chinese food as well. I am sure you (Ah Khmer-Abroad) also eat Vietnamese and Chinese food; isn't that so?

So what is wrong of working in cooperation with our neighbors who know how to recover from the war better than any Westerner trained politicians who only know how to destroy Cambodia?
