[S'pore] President Nathan thanks Cambodian king for search efforts

Nov 29, 2007

PRESIDENT SR Nathan has written a letter to Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni to thank him for his condolences and his country's efforts in the search and recovery operation mounted during the recent dragon boat tragedy.

The Cambodian monarch had sent Singapore a condolence letter on Sunday, two days after the tragedy that killed five Singaporean rowers at Phnom Penh's Tonle Sap river.

President Nathan's reply was dated Wednesday.

Mr Nathan wrote: "I am deeply appreciative of all the cooperation and assistance rendered to the Singapore Embassy and the families of the bereaved, the injured and other team members, following the mishap.

"Singaporeans of all walks of life also greatly appreciate the assistance rendered and sympathy expressed by many Cambodians in Phnom Penh."

Saying that Singapore and Cambodia share close bonds in many areas, Mr Nathan added: "The untiring efforts of Your Majesty's Government in helping us in this tragic episode underscores this very close link.

"On behalf of the people of Singapore and the bereaved families, I thank you for your kind words of comfort."

The king should not deserve credit.
However, the credit should go to Gen. Nhim Vada and the rest of rescue teams. Had not been for these herotic team and their swift response, numerous lives would have been lost. Again, Gen. Nhim Vada and the heroic rescue teams deserve all the credit.

Well done team!

Nhim Vanda was head of K5 during the Vietnamese invasion People's Republic of Kampuchea that killed many Cambodian civilians.

Stop dreaming, no one complained about being killed by PRK, only Ah Khmer-Yuon and Khmer-Krohorm.

Cambodia has only one King who presents to oversea and his own country. When the leaders of foreign countries connect this country, first to the king (high level), not to the low level. If they connect to Nhim Vanda, the question is, how many Kings in Cambodia right now?

Well, there are two types of King: There is King by the stupid westerner's definition, and there is King for Khmer people by Khmer definition or Khmer heart.

Everybody involved in this helpful effort should deserve the credit. Diplomatically, however, it's not wrong for the king to receive the official appreciation letter from another country.

Good boy! You deserve to receive this credit. Let's come with papa to China, papa will show you who really deserve the credit (of course, Gen. Nhim Vada and the rest of rescue team).

Many concerned that that boat capsized could be a conspiracy accident because Cambodia 99% of accidents are conspiracy theory because there are thousands of secret killers from the killing field still existing in Cambodia so singapore' gov. should conduct more investigates or do autopsy to make sure if it is real accident, friendship with vc=friendship with hyenas.cpp'this and next generations should and must remember this equqtion."Moi"P.P

The inevitability can strike anybody at anywhere and at anytime. There wasn't any collusion involved. Conspiracy theory should not be the subject of this discussion.

A word from a man of integrity MOI):

Had not been Samdach Hun Sen, most of you people won't be in this forum discussing important issues, such as the Cambodia economy and how Samdach Hun Sen sacrified his life to save your pathetic asses from the massacre. Remember that before you put your kid or kids to sleep tonight.

Again, remembr: had not been ONE man (Hun Sen, that is), you people never had the opportunity to put your child or children to sleep.

Contrary to what you people might have said about Samdach Hun Sen, HE will always be your LIBERATOR. REMEMBER THAT!

After all, we don't want you people end up like the oblivious crocodiles in the pond.

Quite candidly, as for me, I worship Samdach Hun Sen, because he SAVED my friends, families, others and me (and your oblivious crocodiles). For that I'm eternal grateful.
