Colonel Uk Khnuoch, the deputy army commander of Battambang province, indicated that Cambodian troops based in Battambang province located the remains of 172 (invading) Vietnamese soldiers, between 2003 and 2007. Uk Khnuoch indicated that the majority of the remains – 84 of them – dug out were located in Sampov Loun district. Uk Khnuoch discussed about the finding of the remains of these (invading) Vietnamese soldiers during a ceremony, held on 26 December, to hand over these remains to the Vietnamese K-70 workgroup which is based in Cambodia. The (invading) Vietnamese soldiers lost their life when they fought with the Khmer Rouge in the late 70s.
