The Ministry of Information issued a new directive forcing published newspapers, bulletins, and magazines to include the name of the editor or the name of the structure of the (publishing) entity, and that they should be careful in the publication of a number of articles and pictures. The new directive, dated 25 December, is signed by Khieu Kanharith, the minister of information and it was distributed to all the news media on 27 December. Khieu Kanharith said that the reason for issuing this directive is so that all the local news media preserve the value and raise the journalism profession according to the information law. Pen Samithik, the powerful president of the club of Cambodian journalists, said that he does not consider this directive as a limitation on the freedom of expression of journalists, he said that this directive seems to be a reminder only. Pen Samithik called on all journalists to fulfill their work by placing importance on integrity and professionalism.
