PHNOM PENH, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Thai princess Maha Chakry Sarinthorn will pay a visit to Cambodia soon for development projects, a senior Cambodian official said Monday.
The princess will monitor her development projects at the rural areas of Cambodia during her visit, Hor Nam Hong, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after signing the single visa agreement with his Thai counterpart Nitya Pibulsonggram.
The princess donated her own property to build a high school in Kompong Cheuteal commune, Prasat Sambo district of Kompong Thom province, school director Tan Bun Horng said by phone, adding that the princess will continue to help the school up to 2010.
She will visit there because she is assisting clean water and agricultural laboratory projects which are under proceeding there, Tan Bun Horng said.
Early this month, the princess sent her dentist team there to provide medical service to the students and local people around the school, he said.
"I hope her visit will bring more development projects for our local people," he added.

Please don't come! You are not welcome by the Khmer people!
Please stay in your Kingdom for the need of your people especially the poor and the sick!
Ask the poor in Kampong Thom first 1:00AM, or speak for yourself! She is not comming for you stud!
Think again, Khmer people! She's not interested in helping Khmer, rather she wants to gather more information about Khmer ancient temples like Prasat Prey Kup, etc. Historiacally, Thai never never ever have any bit of good intention toward teh people and kingdom of Cambodia. Hypocrite!
Believe it not, like it or not Cambodia right now is under Vietnamese command and control. If if have to choose between Thai and Communist Vietname I will choose Thai. At least Cambodia And Thailand have the same religion.
We wiil choose none of them.
We prefer dying.
I think she should stay in her country as well. I don't think she is in Cambodia for a good reason. Don't be fooled by her good gesture to help children and the poor in that area(shame on Hun Sen). You are right 3:12 in Cambodia for reasons and meanwhile trying to get poor Cambodians intriguing her Thai monarchy and thus follow their culture. I am not for her visit. If it's the humanitarian purposes. Let other NGOs come in to do it. I appreciate her effort.
want to stay alone like 1975? aCCEPT AND BEWARE!
Hey PL, have you forgot about Silver Coin "PraaK Doung" story?
I don't like both thai and vietnameses... You can see that recently there were some Cambodian people killed by thai soldiers.
Another thing to remember, every time the princess visit Cambodia, some antiques from our temple were stolen.
Fucking Hun Xen and his followers.. they steal the wealth of our nation too... and as a result our country become poor and poorer.
I just want to said 'Heaven and hell watching you ' and I have bad experience about thai soldier in 1979 at refugee camp. But we need to watch her at all time, may be thai princess visit our country for good reason or bad we don't know for sure yet.
Siam DOG.
Never come for good willing of helping the poor of us besides trying to invade our ancient culture and history. Her visit just a few days after an information of Siam firm wanna learn and shoot the story of our Great King Jeyavaraman VII. So Khmer people should be careful of the cultural war at this movement. I am not sure of any of you had watched the ASEAN game opening ceremony, while Siam tried to illuminate and decorate the scence look like our old temple (Angkor). They wanted to show the world that temple would belong to them or somehow.
I strongly oppose and against her visit. Just stay there (Sarinthorn)in your country to see how your people fighting daily, especially in the southern part. Dun need to come to our beloved home land.
Why so stupid? The Thai princess is a rare friend of the poor in Cambodia. She has more than you thought development projects in Cambodia. The princess also has a number of development programmes in Laos. She has been on these virtue courses for more than a decade- not for the first time in Cambodia. I wonder where these stuopid comments are from- America and France? Why don't just keep your eyes opened to see what other good people are doing good deeds in Cambodia. Then gargle your mouth. You hate Thais so much.. while millions of Cambodians currently light their houses by using electricity from Thailand sold at a Thai domestic price much lower than the market price in Cambodia, in a friendly gesture between the two kingdoms. Don't forget that Thailand used to house more than 300,000 displaced Khmers over 30 years ago. The UN agencies fed thyem with Thai rice. Your parents could be among those people. Then you scold our beloved Thai princess who has nothing to do with your domestic politics. If you guys contribute by just one bit of what the Thai princess does to the poor in Cambodia the tiny kingdom will overcome proverty much sooner I believe. OK?
Khmer people must draw the line on the sand between the Thaicong and the Vietcong!
Oh yes! After the Thaicong shot and killed dirt poor Cambodian people and now the Princess has a diplomatic role to cover the Thaicong army brutality! This is a very bad time for her to come to Cambodia!
I say fuck the Thaicong!

I think you are ahead of yourself. You are one person who had not learned a lesson from history or you don't know the history? You must be a fool to believe them for a good reason. I am not a negative person and I do believe give peace a chance. But also believe there are hidden agendas for this Thai princess'es humanitarian work. I also see so many positive things of Thailand for Cambodia, but have you seen the negative sides of Thailand done to Cambodia?
First of all, Thailand leased the land to the United Nation for Cambodian refugees is not free. Thailand feed Cambodian refugees with Thai rice is also not free. Everything for the Cambodian refugees in Thailand were bought and paid for by the U.N and Thailand profited handsomely; did you realize that? Oh by the way, did you know Thai soldiers severely mistreated and abused Cambodian people in camp? Did you know we were their shoot targets along the camp border? How about they hacked our ancient temples for artifacts to be sold in Thailand, thus, destroying our history and culture? Look down on our people, altered their history of Khmer kings? Encroaching on Khmer land, took Khmer provinces? Did you realize any of that? I think you ought to take your time before you pro talk about Thailand... They have not been our greatest neighbor... as much the Vietnamese.
It's in nature that The Princess is doing good deed. She does that everywhere she goes. She is one woman close to Mother Theresa in Thailand which the world comes to know her. So no alarming. Read the news, see it for yourself & enjoy her kindness.
If her kindness is like Mother Theresa may God save your soul and .......
At least the Thai princess thinks about Khmer people and try to build the school to educate khmer from right and wrong. She is much better than Sihanouk, Sihamony or Hun Sen. These people don't do anything for Cambodia people and her country. Only serves their interest.
We welcome your princess of Thailand to Cambodia kingdom. But, we're not welcoming Sihanouk and Sihamony. They're not the real Khmer king. They help to destroy Cambodia and her country. At least Thai is better than Youn, Vietcong. Youn Vietcong and Vietminh are never good neighbor. They want to take Cambodia as you can see in your own eye nowaday.
Holy shit!!!
The Thai from the west.
The Viet from the east.
How about the Chinese???.
They just got off the planes at Phnom Penh airport with suitcase of $$$ bought out your land, married your sisters, screwed your girl friends.
Or because the Old King,King and PM love to eat Peking duck and getting the RED envelopes.
A6,
I'm sorry but you guys are the most ignorant people I've ever encountered on a Khmer news blog. Just the comments alone clearly shows it.
Don't worry I'm not Thai ... I'm a full blooded Khmer who's not racial derogative like most of you guys are and I'm tired of the blaming and pointing the fingers to our neighbors Thailand and Vietnam for our problems. We have A LOT OF INTERNAL ISSUES that we need to fix. I know the issues affecting our beloved Cambodia.
I think it's really great that Princess Sirindhorn is helping out Cambodia especially with rural development. It's kind of sad to see that even our countrymen can't even help our own people and that we have to relay on aid from a foreigner or another country. Our own politicians and leaders can't take money out of their own pocket to donate to the poor. Yet they take more into their pockets from them. What a damn shame. I don't think you people with negative comments should bad mouth the Princess, she's really done a lot of humanitarian work for Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, China and several other Asian nations for several years. She's know as "Phra Tep" and is not just loved by the Thais. You guys shouldn't really comment on things when you don't know the person throughly enough. She's a princess with a good heart and intentions. No hidden agenda.
You forgot Chao Ponha Bordin in 1840's. 4:02 PM.
A6,
This Thai princess is no mother Theresa. We have not forget our lesson with the Thai as yet. Some of your might think it's a good gesture to help out those in need but their eyes are not on the poor. We are welcome for any humanitarian work from all countries except the Thai and the Youn.
Only time can tell, If her kindness for the right reason, the blessing well be store for her.
Your comments (4:02pm) seem to zero in on the good side of one humanitarian act by the Thai princess. Unfortunately, I’m more likely going to appreciate the comment from (10:24am). Well, as a Khmer I might be seen as biased over matters concerning Cambodia and Thailand; however, history—past and present—still serves as the best premises that shape my ways of thinking and seeing things. It shall go without saying that any ordinary person doing something for the common good deserves credit for their good deed. And I’m not against her yet-to-prove good will, but one small good action by some persona whose country’s past and present relationship with my country is mired by sour, bitter history cannot change my whole perception. It’s too soon to say her act in Cambodia is agenda-less. Politics and diplomacy may have mixed to play some game here in this showcase.
Oh-- so sad my pessimist Khmer friends? Are you worrying so much about history? Why just hang yourself to death -- and you'll be free from Thais, Vietnamese, Chinese-- and everybody else.
Thailand is not rich from renting land, selling rice, to the UN to house 300,000 Khmer displaced person some 30 years ago. The Kingdom needed not do that either. Don't you guys see any humanitarain reasons beyond that? The Malaysians, the Australians, the Americans, the Britons and the Swedes will also feel uneased to hear these relatively ungratefull comments.
are you ok 8:21? get rich or not is not the point but the point is that they did not do for free or humanitarian reason. so for someone like you to claim any credit for the thai is absurd.
Have you guys been to Cambodia recently? You can wait until February or March to come to see the first 149km-long road constructed with Thai assistance inaugurated. Since 2004-- one year after the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh was burnt set on fire and looted-- Thailand has provided nearly $1 billion in soft loans-- in which 30% is grant-aid --to build 3 new roads in your home country. The road schemes were to help spur tourism, facilitating goods transport activities between the two immediate neighbours. The governments are currenly implementing several more cooperation projects-- both under bilateral and multi-lateral agreements. For instance, there are nearly 100,000 Khmers working illegally on the other side of the border. Yes, illegally. The governments have been trying to solve this deep-rooted poverty problem through both development and humanitarian aids back in Cambodia. The two neighbours are not at war. Nor does the situation in the relation is bad. Have you ever heard explanations from the Thai autorities that the man shot dead on 12th Dec 2007 is not an ordinary Khmer citizen. He was among 6 armed men poaching the yet-to-define border area for wildlife. Some of them used to go there to cut red-wood trees, collecting rattans. They shot back when Thai border rangers gave warning shots. After a sparodic cross-border shooting the man left lying dead in the jungle with an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle. The area is some 5 kms north of Chong Sa-ngam. The incident was at night-- not in the afternoon as reported by some sensationalizing Khmer newspapers. According to a very important rule agreed upon between Thai and Cambodian border commissions, nobody intrude border areas in dispute. Open your eyes and ears wide before yelling, writing comments with emotions and groundless accusasions. There are also Khmer crooks at the border, not only Thai crooks. PLS do not try to mess up things with ignorance while the two kingdoms are improving ties, strengthening cooperations for development of mutual benefits. One more good gesture may be that the Thai minister of foreign affairs told Mr Hun Sen on Monday that Thailand has fully recognized the judgement on Preah Vihear temple made by the ICJ more than half a century ago. No Thais have ever since claimed rights over the 1,200-year-old sanctuary. Not mentioning Angkor Wat. Don't worry, Thailand does not want any piece of land from our neighbours. We are living in a vast, resource-rich country already. And the fact is that Thailand has never wanted to go to war. Nor that the Thais are warmongers. We here have never been through a real war in the past several decades. We however had suffered a lot from cross-border spill-over. And that's more than enough. OK?
If all of this the truth, don't you worry about any thing, just be happy.
To 4:02PM!
Speak for yourself fool! Even I and my friends who carried American Passport still get harass by the Thaicong army for going into Thailane! Now just imagine those illegal Cambodian migrant workers who got trick by the middleman to work in Thailane!
Dirt poor Cambodian migrant workers are working for free in Thailane and that is a fact! Too often after many months of saving money from slave labor and the illegal Cambodian migrant will head home and the Thaicong authorities always ready for them at the borders where the Thaicong empty their pockets for all the money and take away their belonging and then deported the illegal Cambodian migrant workers to Cambodia for the headline to make AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government look bad!
So if the so called Princess of Thaicong wants to do humanitarian work or really care so much about dirt poor Cambodian people and this is one of the issues she can raise with the Thaicong thuggish officials! Otherwise you are not welcome!
The Thaicong will pay for their sin!

1. Thailand's immigration procedures have been tough for sometime since unrests started in the south. I don't think you are any exception. Would you clarify what kind of harassment it was? Any use of force? Tortered? Were you beaten, kicked on the ass? Or a long interrogation?
2. As I put it-- the several thousand illegal Khmer workers are not our guests-- nor were several thousand others from Laos and Myanmar. They are illegal, vulnerable to meeting with bad officials. And as I said before-- there are not only Thai crooks at the border- Khmer crooks are also there. Why don't go back to a news story here last week that a number Khmer officials at the Poi Pet border checkpoint were punished for robbing the savings of their Khmer compatriots who were back from working in Thailand. OK?
3. I'm a Thai citizen who married a Cambodian wife- and who regularly visit Cambodia in the past several years. But you don't seem to be a Khmer any longer after migrating to the US. It's hard to understand what you are trying to establish in your comment. Are you preparing another war with Thailand, Vietnam, China and the rest of region? If so-- PLS do not return. I don't think you're welcome by the Khmer majority back home.
