On 23 January, a high-ranking official from the ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the general consul of Cambodia in Vietnam is in contact with the Vietnamese ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate and find the producers of sandals bearing the pictures of Angkor on its soles.

Long Visalo, secretary of state of the ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that such use of Cambodia’s effigy is tantamount to looking down of the Khmer race that cannot be accepted. He added that the Vietnamese ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting its research, and that it is checking along the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, as well as the Vietnamese-Chinese border.

The printing of the Angkor Wat pictures on the sandals sold in Vietnamese market, led to a strong reaction from Cambodia which considers Angkor Wat as the national effigy. Both Cambodian officials and Cambodian political parties are affected by the printing of the Angkor Wat pictures on the soles of sandals sold at a market in Vietnam. A report from the Svay Rieng department of information indicated that it suspects that these shoes were produce in Thailand before they were brought over to sell in Vietnam.

Reactions came after these sandals bearing the pictures of Angkor Wat were found on sale at the Go Dau market, located in Tai Ninh province, Vietnam. The Svay Rieng police and the Vietnamese Tai Ninh police bought all the shoes from the sellers, and brought them over to the Svay Rieng police station.

Its either Thailand who are still butt-hurt about losing Siem Reap and Angkor so they just play the blame game and hope to create conflict or it could be the Vietnamese since they have been known to be extremly racist to their neighbors. I wouldn't doubt if they were both colluding with each other.

Big word is spell out Cham phu hea
obvious someone just type in "campuchia" straight out in English and convert the text to Khmer assuming that Khmer spelling works the same way as English or Vietnamese.

Knowing that they couldn't even spell Kampuchea and seeing that those little letters seem to be in Khmer, its pretty much gibberish stuff.

If you want to know, get the shoe write the little letters in the Khmer font as they have then convert it back to English/Vietnamese character. Then you probably find some stupid ads in Vietnamese language being converted to Khmer writing as if every Khmer could understand Vietnamese if they could read it.

If it is Thailand, I don't understand why they would be hurt,or pist-off for loosing Angkor wat and siem reap when it wasn't there's in the first place. All of Thailand were once Cambodia. The Siam people were nomad ruled by the khmer empire, until a horny king decide to take one of the siam as a concubine and had an offsrping. The mother of that offspring told her son that he was the heir to the khmer empire. And he fought with his khmer brothers and took the land to what is now Thialand. And that's how the siam looted Angkor and almost took Battambang.

all of the thai royal today are of Khmer heritage. This is something the royal doesn't want the public to know, they speak khmer.

Khmer people should print Thai's king's or Ho Chi Minh's head on a slipper like that. That way they'd feel how it's like if they really did it.

Well, another theory would be to point finger to Cambodia prime minister. Something like this is not new to this country. Could it be these slippers produced by the idiots in power, so that it could distract other from focussing on them?

you know these things can be done overseas too if the government don't step out and find out the culprit. then we'll see there will be racial fights among these group of people. then the news will spread about our animosity toward each other.
