The KR Tribunal (KRT) issued a declaration indicating that the hearing on Nuon Chea’s bail appeal case will be held on 04 February 2008. Reach Sambath, KRT spokesman, said that 5 judges will preside over this appeal hearing: 3 Cambodian judges, and 2 International judges. Nuon Chea was arrested in his home in Pailin city on 19 September 2007, and he was brought to the KRT and charged with crime against humanity and war crime. After questioning, the investigating judges decided to hold him in temporary detention, but at the time, his lawyer made an appeal on the decision to detain him. Reach Sambath said that all 5 KR leaders in detention have appealed against their detention. In the case of Kaing Kech Iev, the court held a hearing on this issue but it rejected his bail request.
