Prime minister Hun Sen said that, in the world, only Cambodia carried out the win-win policy without using a single bullet, and it even has territorial unity. In a speech given at the army region 5 headquarters on 21 January, Hun Sen claimed that when it comes to Cambodia, it’s sure strange. He said that, just like the monarchy for example, it died for 23-year long, but it was revived again, and in this issue, it only happens in Cambodia. In other countries, when the monarchy is lost, it is lost forever, however, the Cambodian monarchy was revived after it disappeared for 23-year. And in Cambodia, the royals are even involved in politics, but that such situation does not exist in Thailand or Japan. Hun Sen added: “We don’t prevent the Cambodian royals from being involved in politics, please go ahead, but if you are involved in politics, this means that you will be touched (attacked) also.” Under this meaning, political analysts believed that the political involvements of the royals will open them to verbal attacks. Hun Sen added that: “It’s not just the prince, even the prince’s father will be attacked also.”

I permit myself to disagree with our prime minister when he claimed that our country was "strange" when its monarchy has been restored after it had been abolished for 23 years. Cambodia is not that strange at all, and it is not unique in the world in restoring its monarchy.

There are countries which have restored their monarchy after some years of their abolition. below are three of such countries:

Spain has restored its monarchy three times in its history, the last one was in 1975 after the death of dictator Franco.

France became a republic in 1792and King Luis XVI was executed in 1793 (4 years after the Revolution of 1789) for treason to his people. But in 1799 Napoleon became practically its king and was crowned emperor in 1804. France then became an empire until 1814 when its monarchy was restored. Then in 1848 it became a republic again until 1852 when it became an empire once more. This 2nd empire ended in 1870 and France became a republic for the 3rd time. This republic lasted until 1940 when Germany conquered France. German occupation ended with the end of World War II, and France became a republic until now.

England also abolished its monarchy in 1649 when its king (Charches I) was executed for treason. England was placed under the control of its parliament and then under the protedtorate of Cromwell and his son until 1660. Then the English monarchy was restored when King Charles II (the executed king's son)was crowned.

I would suggest that "intellectual advisors" in our prime minister's entourage should study a bit world history to help avoid making such false claim and mislead his public.

To me it is a sin to lie to or mislead to people less knowledgeable than oneself.

NOW IT IS THE TIME TO ABOLISH THE MONARCHY.

THE KHMER DOES NOT NEED KING OR PRINCE OR PRINCES ANYMORE.

Dr. LAO, you are insightful with this matter.

As I can notice Hun Sen's political rhetoric is a always cheating. Khmer monarchy has been revived because Hun Sen needs monarchy to legitimize his power, if he did not has fake support to monarchy, Cambodian peoples will not support him as PM.

Hun Sen is smart in manipulating Cambodia, but he is stupid in dealing with Vietnam and China.

His government and leadership is lackey style leadership because in order to favor Vietnam, he can humiliate Khmer Krom monk; in order to favor China he can ban or condemn civil society activity in commemorating genocidal victims.

This is happening only in Cambodia as a lackey state under Hun Sen's grip.

FORGET ABOUT POLITICS! KHMER ARE STUPID TO UNDERSTAND THE POLITICAL PROCESS. THEY'RE TOO DUMB AND STUPID.

sure. Yep. Just like you 6:42. Stupid and dumb, irrational and say things without thinking.

There are no doubts that there are Khmer like you. For example, there is Ranaridth and there is Hun Sen.

No doubt...you're on the same boat.

Yes, Prime Minister, Cambodia is strange indeed. It is ruled by a mono-eye man with a dog brain and loyal to the master. Only Cambodia that does not care about the encroachment of its territorial integrity, and sovereignty by its neighbours. The mono-eye man even help to legitimize the stealing and raping of Cambodia……it is strange…….

In the mind and CPP strategy "Win-win" is similar to a Khmer saying
"Win by any means".
In khmer culture when you oroniung win 2 times, you stress on "win"
and you do whatever to win even by killing!
It's a good way for Hun Sen to let local authorities at the base playing the 'Win -win 'game.
