SRP MP Son Chhay asked King Norodom Sihamoni to grant the posthumous title of “Workers’ Hero of the Kingdom of Cambodia” to Chea Vichea, the former president of the Free Trade Union of Workers in the Kingdom of Cambodia. In a letter dated 18 January sent the king, Son Chhay said that Chea Vichea was a Cambodian Hero who dedicated his entire life to defend justice for the workers, and to promote social justice, until he was savagely assassinated. Son Chhay believed that Chea Vichea deserves this title, and that was the reason why he made the request to the king to grant this posthumous title to Chea Vichea. Son Chhay’s letter did not receive a reply from the king yet as of today.
