Kep Chuktema, the governor of the Phnom Penh, said that he wants to buy 3 buses for carpool transportation of city workers, including himself, to come to work daily, in order to cut down gasoline use, and, in particular, to relieve traffic congestion. The governor came up with this idea after Hun Sen made a call, during a Council of Ministers meeting held last Friday to slash down the gasoline consumption, at a time when the price of gasoline is constantly rising. In a meeting held at the city hall on 14 January, Kep Chuktema said that if there is an agreement with the higher ups, the city will buy 3 buses to carpool city workers to come to work daily. These buses will run on set schedule, and will travel along large city streets. Passengers will meet at predetermined bus stops, just like buses transporting students. Kep Chuktema said that this action could slash gasoline consumption, and, in particular, it would relieve the city congestion. He said that he would be taking these city buses also.

This is an reaction of the congestion in the city. Our City governor accepts his mistake in deveolpping new building in the city.
Business centers, big buildings should not be developed at the heart of city. In prediction the traffic situation in Phnom Penh will be worse and worse, especially after the development of Camko City, boeng Kok lake, Koh Pech,... Phnom Penh is not like Singapore, Phonm Penh is surrounded by land not sea. Why develop only city center?... Can we predict how worse the traffic situation in 5 years if the infrastructure still not be improved like today????
