The governor came up with this idea after Hun Sen made a call, during a Council of Ministers meeting held last Friday to slash down the gasoline consumption, at a time when the price of gasoline is constantly rising. In a meeting held at the city hall on 14 January, Kep Chuktema said that if there is an agreement with the higher ups, the city will buy 3 buses to carpool city workers to come to work daily. These buses will run on set schedule, and will travel along large city streets. Passengers will meet at predetermined bus stops, just like buses transporting students. Kep Chuktema said that this action could slash gasoline consumption, and, in particular, it would relieve the city congestion. He said that he would be taking these city buses also.
