SRP MPs expressed their concerns about the National Assembly plan to amend the law to allow foreigners to buy lands in Cambodia, and privately own them. Ngo Sovann, Svay Rieng SRP MP, told RFA on Saturday that he and the SRP do not support any amendment to the law governing land ownership because he said that this law could be a serious danger to the Nation. “If we allow foreigners to buy lands in Cambodia, we are concerned about foreigners, such as Vietnamese businessmen coming to buy lands in Cambodia. If they (Vietnamese businessmen) could buy a lot of lands along the border, after a while, this lands become theirs,” Ngo Sovann said. However, Nuth Narang, the secretary of state of the minister of Land Management, Urban Planning & Construction told The Phnom Penh Post newspaper that this amendment to the law will be made with the intention of attracting foreign investors, and it will not make Cambodia lose anything at all, it will serve the Cambodian economy also.

Dirt poor Cambodian people make $30-$50 dollars a month in salary and they can't even afford to own land and now to allow the foreigners who are funded by their government such as the Vietcong and rich millionaires from oversea to buy more land will only create more problems for dirt poor Cambodian people!

It is a fact that majority of Cambodian population don't even live in Phnom Phen anymore because they can't afford it! So please stop chasing dirt poor Cambodian people from their land!

AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government is too stupid not to invest in good school, good roads, affordable housing, affordable healthcare, good tax system, anti-corruption law…because with out these things and no Cambodian people can create good economy!

The current draft provides for ownership of condos and possibly houses but not the land itself (unless the draft was changed recently). So the new law is not all negative. But the government should put a stop to that crazy, unhealthy speculation, which does not benefit the economy and the people as a whole. Only the speculators get rich, and 50% of them are foreigners, e. g. South Koreans.

Where did our government get this ideas from? Which country on this globe allows foreigner to buy and own land in another country? The business people from rich countries will buy all land in cambodia. This time government allow foreigner to buy land, in the future they will allow foreigners to buy human beings from cambodia.
