Sam Rainsy hits on the CPP soft spot, angered CPP MP Ho Non and Keat Chhon

CPP MP attacks Sam Rainsy on the National Assembly floor

Thursday, January 17, 2008
Kampuchea Thmei newspaper
Translated from Khmer by Socheata

During a session of the National Assembly (NA) on 16 January 2008, to discuss about the ratification of the agreement between Japan and Cambodia on the liberalization and protection of Japanese investment in Cambodia, opposition leader Sam Rainsy sustained a heavy verbal attack from a CPP MP who was angered by Sam Rainsy’s accusation that a number of investors coming to do business in Cambodia are criminals.

Sam Rainsy raised, during the debate on the draft law, that a number of investors coming to do business in Cambodia are merely criminal mafia groups who violate human rights, grab people’s lands, and the government keeps on allowing these people to buy lands in Cambodia, thereby making Cambodians loose their lands.

At the same time, Sam Rainsy also discussed about the corruption in the illegal logging, and about land disputes also. Sam Rainsy’s statements generated anger in CPP MP Ho Non. Unable to hold her anger, Ho Non asked Heng Samrin’s authorization to come to the podium and debate against Sam Rainsy.

Ho Non said that the issues raised by Sam Rainsy are all contrary to the truth. She said that Sam Rainsy has an angel mouth, but a devil heart, meaning that Sam Rainsy makes the population loves him, but in reality, he was the one who destroyed the interests of the population instead.

Ho Non said that this law does not contain any clause on the destruction of the population’s interest, but that it was written to prevent criminal businessmen. However, she said that investors, like those investors from Japan, have a good intention by investing in Cambodia in order to provide jobs for the people, so that they can improve their livelihood, and thereby reduce poverty as prescribed by the government policy. However, Ho Non said that Sam Rainsy is preventing such things from happening by accusing investors as mafia who come to Cambodia to grab lands from the people.

Ho Non said that Sam Rainsy wants to destroy the achievements of the government which are acknowledged by the people, especially, with the approaching election, and as a CPP MP, she said that she cannot accept Sam Rainsy’s statement.

Keat Chhon, the minister of economy and finance, chimed in with Ho Non, calling Sam Rainsy’s accusation saying that investors coming to Cambodia are mafia, is too strong. Keat Chhon said that if Sam Rainsy does not hold his parliamentary immunity, he would be sued because if the mafia come to seek refuge in Cambodia after perpetrating their crimes elsewhere, there will be several organizations which will follow up on such cases.

Keat Chhon added that some of the people arrested in the past were not investors, but that they were illegal criminals from other countries who came to hide in Cambodia.

For Ho Non If you can't debate Sam Rainsy, bring your husband in to help you and then resign from your job. You're not fit for this position if you can't even debate with the democratic leader like Mr. Sam Rainsy. How could you ask your boss to help you out with the debate?. Are you nut?

Kean Chhorn and Ho Non are just two of the Khmer traitors. They don't do anything to protect the country and her people, but to protect their own pocket and interest.

I had seen enough of the CPP Vietcong slave economic investment scheme over the years! It is kind of odd that these CPP Vietcong slave officials are boasting about the increase of tourism and the increase of the government revenue but did dirt poor Cambodian have benefited from it? Of course not!

It doesn't take to a genius to know that dirt poor Cambodian people are in such a deep trouble over the years and in the coming year! Let look at Cambodian economy in four categories!

Production- Cambodia produces nothing! (Only garment and tourism!)

Employment- Cambodia employment remains high!

Spending- Dirt poor Cambodian live on less than 1 dollar a day!

retailer- Dominated by few middlemen and government monopoly and dirt poor Cambodian will continue to pay high price for everything such as gasoline, rice, healthcare, drug, property...

Ah Hun Sen signed border land and sea treaties with Hanoi in the monkey court room. Read this article Ah Hun Sen, Hor Nam Hong or Hor Nam Shit and CPP officials if you're so stupid about border posts with Hanoi. Don't you know you need to go to UN Court if Hanoi wants to talk about this issue. Ah Kwak is always Kwak no matter what he tries to open his eye.

LIMA, Peru - Peru asked the International Court of Justice on Wednesday to set its sea boundary through waters claimed by Chile, inflaming a diplomatic dispute with its neighbor.

Peru's action, filed before the world court at The Hague in the Netherlands, drew an immediate denunciation from Chilean Foreign Minister Alejandro Foxley, who said the areas claimed by Peru "are unquestionably under Chilean sovereignty and jurisdiction."

Allan Wagner, Peru's representative before the World Court, told the radio station Radioprogramas from The Hague that the documents had been filed, but declined to offer details.

Court officials did not immediately confirm the case had been filed and a decision could take years.

Peru contends its maritime border with Chile has not been defined, while Chile says the border was set by treaties with Peru in 1952 and 1954. Peru argues the agreements dealt with fishing rights, not borders.

Peru argues that the two neighbors' land border continue its southwesterly direction into the ocean while Chile says it should run westward from the coast.

Foxley read a statement in Santiago, Chile, asserting that his country "deeply laments" Peru's action, which he said "fails to recognize valid treaties existing between the two countries and also fails to recognize the practice of decades of implementation of those treaties."

Foxley said Chile might summon home its ambassador to Peru, a move traditionally used by governments to express displeasure with another country.

In a more conciliatory tone, he said Chile's government will work to maintain a spirit of cooperation with Peru despite the maritime dispute.

Wagner, a former foreign and defense minister, urged Peruvians and Chileans to "allow the process to develop in an orderly manner and not become an element of nervousness."

There is strong anti-Chilean sentiment in Peru because the country lost a large chunk of its southern territory to Chile in a war in 1879.

In recent years, Chilean companies have invested large sums in buying Peruvian companies, and that also has contributed to anti-Chilean feelings here.

Chile's President Michelle Bachelet on Monday rejected Peru's claim.

"Chile considers that no pending border issue exists with Peru," Bachelet said. "The maritime limits have been established and the treaties put us in the right."

Established to resolve disputes between U.N. member states, the World Court usually takes years to reach a final decision

Most comment are ridicoulous and absurd. But let me stress they do not represent the "majority" or most oversea Khmer people.

They represent a few monkey brain young people who cannot articulate there frustration with the country's path.

true, most and majority of Cambodian oversea opposes the CPP regime for its close relations to Vietnam (some refer to them by their former political name the VietCong). Everyone is too aware already of the ways Vietnam has treated Cambodia. This however, is just one of many countless reasons why the oversea Khmer people are so much against CPP regime. (unfortunately some young readers cannot distinguish one independent issues from another yet, everything is conglumaerate to them, all stick together in the same category)

Illegal loggers, drug bust linked to high CPP with immunities, CPP protection of companies that take citizens land, CPP affiliated violence on the general population and many other issues plauge the CPP run Cambodia.

overall, CPP, is doing a really bad job and the Khmer oversea who are adjusted and used to seeing things work out with proper law and justice in there host countries are reviled by the actions of CPP.

So they disagree. But what is most misleading is that, people need to understand most people who have access to the internet are young readers who have not yet have total maturity to control their language or analysis each problems for what its, rather, they assume and generalized everything(characteristics of young people), just like other people who come to view this forum. They like to generalized all these for the Khmer people who disagree with Hun Sen and his people who in the last 3 decades since they came which have cause unabated misery to Cambodian people, witnessing Cambodian citizens being arrested by foreign countries, seeing Cambodian land signed to different neighbors hastely without proper studies and review, having seen Cambodian forest dissappearing sectors by sectors and have seen Cambodian poors loss their land one after another.

You see people go on here say things like b*ch*, *c**t, things like that. They are you immature young readers.

most mature readers, we visit this site frequently as well and appreciate very much the work KI-MEDIA done in bringing out awareness of these issues committed by the Hun Sen regime. But there isn't a great urge from us to lash out or spam an issue which everyone understands already-rehash is useless, we rather spend time thinking of ways to help our immediate community.

So next time people come in here making such general statements about Khmer people and their lack of respect or incomplete regard for others, one must think about who who are these people who really comment with such absurdity and unrestrained?

And to what extent is one's general assumption and generalization of these comment different from these readers themselves?

I am a Khmer Oversea
I appreciate this site
I made comments from time to time
I have never cursed anyone out
I am also a critique of the
CPP people.

my advice to those young readers and persons of extreme opinion is to learn the ettiqute of proper or commenting or debate. This is a general world wide accessble webpage, not a bill-board where you and your other teen friends curse out each other using the best and worst language you can find.

Do you think you are the smartest one? Do you think that no one can see these issues? Do you think that only people who cry and scream like you understand a the things the cry about?

5:17 you feel you need to be recognized and you need to be affirmed. These sounds more like personal issues the the the issue of Cambodia.

Let me assure you that I understand and that many other Cambodians who do not go around accusing others who do not cry like yourself, understand very well the issue of Cambodia and some of us are people who personally are affected by these things. No like you in your cozy bedroom.

Do you think Dr. Lao Mong Hai is a stupid dog brain? What about Mr. Sam Rainsy? Mr. Mom Sonando? Mr. Kem Sokha? And many more people who you may look up too to lift us away from the yoke of this regime.

If your idea of being smart and knowing the issue and criticizing the goverment for change is to lower your dignity. Then those people are not your hero. They know how to conduct civil critique and some of their speeches may even hurt greatest down to the core to those they critique. But they never make such statements which people like you do.

Let's talk about my rich and priviledge family. My rich and privilege family are all workers. Hard and honest day labor workers. Have never stole anyone's land but vice versa and have not steal any one's money but have made donations and assistance to the best we can to our fellow Khmer people.

Like I say, you make very crazy assumptions. You think anyone who disagree with you are Khmer who are "*fck* up living of Cambodia by stealing people's land.
Well it may come off as a suprise to you that I am also a fellow Khmer oversea , and i have never been a slave of anyone.

Our country will not change as long as people like yourselve grow up to believe every Khmer different from you is your enemy.

What is this attitude that make yourselve so much better the CPP? Tell me. What do you think Cambodia will accomplish by having exclusive and assumption jumping people like you?

I support Sam Rainsy,
I am oppose to CPP,

So you should open your eye today that not all people who oppose CPP are like yourselve. And be glad the people who also opposes the CPP like Mr. Sam Rainsy, Kem Sokha, and others are not like yourselve. Otherwise its a pretty gloomy picture for Cambodia.

To 3:50AM!

Are you trying to regulate how Khmer people behave in KI-media? And who are you to accuse those Khmer people with their passionate comments anti-AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave as "Khmer oversea or immature young readers"!

For me I love KI-media and I love to read those comments whether I like it or not and I want to learn something from other Khmer people! I find KI-media as a place to get even with the CPP Vietcong slave government because what I said can be so inflammatory and I can get kill for my words and ideas if I were to say in Cambodia and I was warned before by the CPP officials and that I can get kill for saying something bad about AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government!

I had made numerous trips to Cambodia and every chance I got to Cambodia and I never fail to observe the environment, the Khmer people, the living condition, and their perception about their leaders and the future! And many of these comments that I posted in KI media are base on my experience in Cambodia! So to those fools who said that most of the commentators are "Khmer oversea and immature young readers" are flat out wrong!

I believe Khmer people have the right to express their feeling anyway they want especially when dealing with a thuggish HUN SEN Vietcong slave government! How could any Khmer people reserve kind, peace, and loving words for AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government after seeing AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave police and military kicked Khmer Krom monk like a dog for peaceful protest!

The real issue here is not about how Khmer people should behave in KI-media! The real issue here is about AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave puppet government that had been in power for 30+ years and there is no improvement whatsoever for Cambodia and Cambodian people and only when there is enough pressure from international community then he will try to do something to fool them! AH HUN SEN has failed to keep up with the pace of change in Khmer society over the years and he still stuck in the 1950 with the mentality of the Khmer Rouge because every time he talked about his government achievement and he always compared his government to the Khmer Rouge legacy because he is the same thug former Khmer Rouge farmer pagoda boy and he will never change and the only thing that he changed is by accepting honoree fake PhD from Hanoi! He was never love by Khmer people and he was put in power during the Vietcong invasion and occupation!

AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government has been so successful in turning every Khmer people into beggars, lowlife, poor, hungry, uneducated, sex slaves, drug addicts, and Khmer people will continue to be a victim as long as AH HUN SEN remains in power! For my part I will continue to use inflammatory words against AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave regime whether people care to read my words or not because I have something to say and I will say it base on my experience and it is my freedom!

Dear fellow KI-Media redears et al...

As on any or all other unmoderated blog on-line, KI-Media is no exception when it comes to emotional, angry or even uncontrollable expression of frustrations towards the Viet controlled regime in P. Penh and sometime anonymously towards each other between the readers themselves.

Needless to say that I, personally as one of KI-Media reader, would not condone or encourage such rather chaotic way of personal expressions, but amidst all of that KI-Media comes to exist and to serve its purpose:

Dedicated to publishing sensitive information about Cambodia.

Thanks a million for everything.

Why do everyone call Hun Sen Government stupid? Why do we blame Viet or Thai for our problems? If Hun Sen is so dumb, why is he able to stay in power for so long? Certainly dumb would`nt get him this far. Dumb definition would be your Hero King. Because our people get mistreated by other investors or any foreign countries, we blame them. The government is there to protect its people. But we all know that they are there for power and money. So I beg the question, how are we going to change that? Khmer Kampuchea Krom got one step right. That is joining with the CPP and infiltrate them from inside out. That is what Hun Sen is doing to other parties and to our people. Then he solves it and say hey, without me nothing would be solve. We need more educated people who will fight these CPP at a different level. And that is to influence them. Get inside there power grid and break it.

Lets all stop bickering at each other and face the real demon.

No. Meas 10:48, Bong 3:50 me, is not attempting the impossible, moderating your comments and other pa-on paons. I simply point out the obvious stuff. The stuff you hate most about Hun Sen, and his officials. If you take the time to see, you are mirroring their action and characters, and this is a mere internet where you have no real control and no power behind your words. Imagine if our beloved Cambodia is to be ruled by people which such character, wouldn't it be a big mess? Oh wait... it is already being run by people like such. What do we know? It's a big mess right now.

I also want to point out to you that for the last few years several "outsider" bloggers have come to "observe" or pass by our Khmer forums and have thus make a great deal of humiliating assumptions on such characters as the "majority Khmer overseas". I merely point out that these assumed characteristics, which i do not agree with, does not represent the so call Khmer majority oversea, and if it did came from the Khmer oversea judging from the content and form of their comments, they can not be much of a mature and well formed adult minds, thus leading me to conclude a younger view.

So in sort, in saying such things, i not only attempted to shield and defend myself, a commoner to the KI-MEDIA, but also my people against such unfair generalizations by outsiders.

I also have nothing against Khmer people right to expression and critique at the Hun Sen goverment. Like I pointed out before, neither does Sam Rainsy, Rong Chun, Chea Vichea, Chea Mony, Ou Virak, Mom Sonando, Khem Sokha, and the list goes on, of Human Rights activist, Politicians, and Union leaders who have the same belief of Khmer people expression freedom. Yet they have done it in such a way that does not bring Khmer people to such odds and animosity against each other.

We are trying to rebuild our country why must we try to label, split and curse each other out? There so many ways to reproach, but i believe people with who does not exercise self restrain in freedom can go too far and have do more harm and division among Khmers then healing.

No doubt the Khmer in Cambodia feel as much pain and as much anger and resentment towards Hun Sen as we oversea, and if not, they feel even more because they have the personal affliction caused by this regime.

They all in all, they managed to be humble people and have not lower their dignity to resort to extreme uncivil verbal divisions and attack which in itself is an attack and suppression on the freedom of speech in my opinion.

You can see for example, blog by Khmerization, or Young Khmer? Not sure which one from Cambodia, but they do not express their views in such degoratory ways. One viewing through their site, however, no doubts gets the impression they are great anti-corruption, illegal loggings, and for Cambodian freedom. But they have done so in a civilized way, and looking at the content if i were a CPP person, I would get just as much pain as any other useless and derisive disrespectful and inhumanely ill-thoughtout crude expressions.

But that is all my comment.
At the end of the day, i can only speak for myself.

and I myself, do not like CPP, against Hun Sen regime everyway.

And i am just as well informed on the suffering of Khmer people as the next person or you.

But i will not resolve to make statements that will harm the unity of Khmer people or cause others to look down on me or my people. Hun Sen is already doing a bad enough job for the world to laugh at our country. I refuse to have outsiders label all Cambodians on par with the Hun Sen attitude.

Anonymous said...

Me 12:32 again. I would would disagree with 12:10 on that if Hun Sen is a bad leader he cannot maintain power. We know Hun Sen maintain power through fear. Also to say that the Kampuchea Krom have done the right thing to infiltrate the CPP by joining them is also not right in my opinion because this does not represent the Kampuchea Krom people as a whole but a few group of people.
In general Khmer Krom people do not like the CPP or want to be affiliate with the parties because they are the very people that suppressed our monks and our people to work with Vietnam.

So the Khmer Krom people mainly do their work with NGOS and other national and international human rights organization because they are not a political group. You can see this action by Kim Van Cheng group cause a good deal of disagreement among other Khmer associations who hold this non-political and human rights base view point.

I think its Mr. Kim Van's right to join in his capacity as an indivial Cambodian citizen, but he should not promote his actions as the action that will help resolve Khmer-Krom people problem and thus advertise such statement to recruit more Khmer-Krom people to join the very party that abuses them.

Personally i do not think CPP can be changed, externally or internally. So the only way to get better Cambodia is for every Cambodian to excerise their freedom rights and vote for change. Voice out their freedom and challenge the status quo.

The CPP will not change until it lose. At this point, it believe everything it does it correct. Only change when they got nothing left. Corruption will always feed on corruption until it devastate itself then it is forced to examine itself and then they will be awake.

Khmer people use your power and change our governent peacefully.

Best of luck Cambodia 2008 election!

Please don’t worry too much about the so called chaotic personal behavior in KI-Media because this is what you called a competing interest and I know no government on Earth can accommodate all the Khmer interest but Hun Sen must do his best to accommodate the most basic right and needs of Cambodian people such freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of the press and affordable housing, affordable quality education, affordable healthcare, economic justice from dangerous product, unscrupulous middlemen, and government monopoly…

12:30, don't assume that i have opinions and belief with 12:19 because i don't believe in your way of reasons. You have seen my post enough to know on which side of the issue i stand.

12:19 is an obvious supporter of the CPP so he it is his nature that he try to persuade us all the supposed good things about Mr. Hun Sen's regime. But we know that it have no substance. We see the Cambodian government is quite contrary to providing the basic accommodations of Cambodian people. And only serve interest not the majority, but the minority.

The proof and support for all our views are the countless reports of abuse and violations which KI-MEDIA has compiled, reroute and translate for us. 12:19 on the other hand have nothing to back up his claim.

If you believe your argument can be drowned by such simple unsubstantiated persuasion as that of 12:19 then i believe you need to re-examine again who's wits and reasons and wits is truly reasonable.
