The price of all foods – especially local foods, such as chicken, Chinese broccoli, bananas, etc… – is increasing significantly during the Chinese New Year. Food used as offerings to the ancestors that increases the most is chicken which now costs between 27,000 riels ($6.75) and 30,000 riels ($7.50) per kilo, this price is about 10,000 riels ($2.50) more than that from last Chinese New Year. The price of all vegetables is not increasing except for Chinese broccoli which costs between 3,500 riels ($0.88) and 5,000 riels ($1.25) per kilo. A cluster of baby bananas almost double from in price from last Chinese New Year, right now, a cluster of baby bananas used for offerings costs between 35,000 to 40,000 riels ($8.75 to $10) as compared to about 18,000 riels ($4.50) last year. Roast pork is an important food for the Chinese to use as offerings, and its price increases a lot. Last year, a 5-kilo-size roast pork costs about 17,000 riels ($4.25) per kilo, but now, it costs about 30,000 riels ($7.50) per kilo. There is no price increase for imported fruits.

in america, holiday seasons bring lots of discounts, whereas, in most asian countries, this is the opposite. it's funny how different continents operate differently.
get in the global spirit, people. who cares. people celebrate anywhere and everywhere not just in cambodia. i don't give a rat's ass.
All kind of food and fruits are expensive nowsaday especially on a special occassion which make people complain alot while their income is not balance with their expenses.
True Khmer does not celebrate the Commie New Year.
only the puritans, the quackers, the yankees, the pilgrims, the vikings (all are caucasians) are true americans. the rest are american-want-to be. hahahahaha!! be realistic, people!
