During the past few days, high-ranking SRP officials including MPs, party leaders, and a number of local party officials have announced their defection from the party to join the CPP. This action caused national and international observers to be concerned of the downfall of the party prior to the upcoming election. However, opposition leader Sam Rainsy said that he is not scared about these departures at all, he based his opinion on the fact that there is a huge number of votes given in support to the SRP, and these votes did not come from the defectors but from voters who place their confidence on the SRP. Sam Rainsy told the Sam Rainsy Youth Movement on 12 February that for those who seek positions, let them leave, and he even give them his blessings so that they may find a prosperous position, he also thanked the CPP for accepting these defectors and providing them with a position that include paid salaries because these defectors wanted to obtain benefits for a long time already.

There should be ethics for politicians. Other professions have code of ethics to control the behavior of members.
Why politicians like to be called "Defector" and they like to use the word "Defect" to describe their move from party to party?
MP must bear responsibility for those who have follow them, vote for them. What are the consequences of "defection" on their followers and voters? Example, when our Ex-King appealed for us to join the Marquis, KR, and finally the KR killed millions of Khmer.
After all, it is difficult to trust a politician. They can change their mind every seconds.
An advise for politician: A Khmer living tradition goes this way " Tuk Chhnang, Ka-orm chas chas kroin dam ktim, dam ji , kom vai bombek"... keep old cookers and pots to grow herbs, don't break it even if you don't use or like it. It's likewise for party leader.
It is like in the corporate world, when we part company with a firm, we leave with friendliness and cordiality. Why don't politicians practice this?
We never know what will happen in the future.
