People living in the former area occupied by the KR, are concerned about the news that there would be an additional arrest of 3 former high ranking cadres of the Democratic Kampuchea (KR) regime.

According to Adhoc report on the KR Tribunal (KRT) issued on 17 and 18 March, a number of people living in the former regions ruled by the KR army, still have minimal knowledge on the KRT.

A anonymous former deputy commander of the KR 404 army brigade based on the western zone, who now lives in the Sampov Loun commune, Sampov Loun district, expressed his concern, saying that: “I want all these issues to end, they should be all gone, if it remains, there will be hatred towards each other, there’s no end, and the war will continue on.”

A former KR soldier declared that the situation for the group of KR should not be underestimated: “The war cannot start by a single a person, if a single person can instigate a war, then the danger would come from that person.”

There are many questions addressed by Sampov Loun and Srok Phnom district villagers to Adhoc officials in charge of diffusing information on the KRT, and on 18 March, they wrote down their questions to ask about the presence of foreign judges, and the responsibility of low level (KR) cadres, and also about the discrimination on the families of the KR leaders who were taken to face justice.

Yin Meng Ly, an Adhoc official, explained about these questions: “Our tribunal does not have the ability to fulfill its work yet. Another point is that, when there is participation of foreign judges, then the national and international opinion will recognize that the KRT is using international standards. Regarding those involved, or the lower level cadres of the DK regime, and the discrimination issue, based on the law, the judgment will be meted to the KR leaders, but for (the other low level cadre), they are not facing anything at all, because the (KRT) will only judge the high-ranking leaders and those who were responsible. And for the discrimination in the society, there is none, this means that they can live like ordinary citizens.”

It is noted that among the people who belonged to the (former) KR soldiers and cadres, they are more careful in the way they talk and they still listen to their chiefs from then until now.

Reach Sambath, KRT spokesman, explained that the information about the arrest of another 3 KR leaders is simply not true: “In reality, the KRT representatives met all of them already, we understand that this is only a rumor.”

In January, a foreign news media reported that the KRT plans to arrest 3 more KR cadres and soldiers, including Meas Muth, Sou Meth and Mam Nay aka Chan, the deputy director of the Tuol Sleng prison, however, the KRT rejected this claim.

Up until now, 5 KR leaders, including Khieu Samphan, Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, Ieng Thirith (Ieng Sary’s wife) and Kaing Keg Iev aka Duch, the former Tuol Sleng prison director, have been detained by the KRT, they were accused of crime against humanity and/or war crimes.

I hope ECCC will arrest many other former Youn Rouge that are working for the youn government in Cambodia now. This should include Hun Sen and his gangsters.

You hope is wrong. If you just condemn someone without evidence, then the court will arrest you!

I won't worry about any new arrest. The court don't even have enough money to handle the accuses right now.
