Largest school for overseas Vietnamese children being built in PPenh ... while Khmer Krom are prohibited from learning Khmer in Kampuchea Krom

Largest school built for Vietnamese-Cambodians

25/03/2008
VNA (Hanoi)

Ground was broken on March 24 to start building a primary school for overseas Vietnamese children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Vietnamese-Cambodian Association President Chau Van Chi said the 200,000 USD funding came from the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, local Cambodian administrations and donors from the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.

The potential school will cover over 1,000 sq. m. of land and have 10 classrooms, making it the largest school for overseas Vietnamese children in Cambodia so far.

The project is scheduled to become commissioned in September for the new school year.

This is nothing new. Cambodia always had Chinese and Vietnamese schools.

In addition, the new school should not be of any difference from other foreign schools in Cambodia. I welcome cultural diversity for the amelioration of our cultural awareness.

Good day!

KI Media should ask what the SRP is going to do about it.

This is fucken outrageous for the Vietcong to have such unlimited power under AH HUN SEN Vietcong puppet government! Cambodia is still under the Vietcong occupation!

The Cambodian govt., while allowing the Viet school to be built in Cambodia, should lobby the Viet govt. to allow Khmers to build schools in Vietnam and allow Khmer Krom to learn Khmer, too. Khmer Govt. today doesn't think much about Cambodia and Khmers or Khmer Krom, it only think about the officials' pockets. How much did the Viet govt. pay to Hun Sen for him to approve the school? Please lobby Viet govt. to let Khmer Krom have their schools, will you. Really sad.

It would be fine for vietnamese to build school in Phnom-Penh had they also build Khmer schools for Cambodians in Kampuchea Krom. And Hun Sen government should demand exactly that if they want to be treated equally as representative of Khmer Nation by vietnamese government. We Cambodians urged Phnom Penh government to look after their compatriots in Kampuchea Krom. After all, it’s about our dignity as Khmers! Hun Sen are you proud as Khmer or not? Do you dare to do just that? Otherwise, you are just Youn slave and you are not deserved to represent the Khmer Nation!!! We dare you to take care of our brothers and sisters in Kampuchea Krom.

thats right i demand equal respect and partnership of the two people!
Its no more then looking down on the Khmer people if this policy is one way.

Equality, mutual respect is a two way street! Youn should not be allowed to do anything they want in Cambodia for illegal Youns in Cambodia and let Khmer Krom badly treated in Kampuchea Krom. Shame on you Hun Sen government if it is that way and you dare not say anything. Go and asks vietnamese to build Khmer schools for Cambodians and give shcolarship to young Khmer Kroms who want to come to study in Cambodia. Khmer government should take care of their blood sisters and brothers in Kampuchea Krom and not just give a position or two to Thach Ket and a few Khmer Krom in Phnom Penh!!!

There is no problem with equal respect and all, but Ah Khmer-Yuon must first wakeup and realize that for Vietnamese to do well in Cambodia, they must master Cambodian language, unless they have their own business.

YOUN must let Khmer Krom do the same thing due to equal respect. Don't worry the YOUN is under international pressure of dealing with Khmer Krom and other ethnic groups. Khmer Krom is now being heard around the world. The YOUN is worrying and more headache for them now. Jayo! Khmer Krom!

Dream on! I won't waste the needed cashed on stupid international community or UN. I will used as scholarship to help alleviate poverty in the Delta region instead.

if anybody can do it in pp, khmer krom people have demand the same rights to open khmer language school in the mekong delta and in thailand as well. i think it is good to be bilingual or more. the more language a person can speak the better including english, french, khmer, japanese, korean, etc. i think it's just about doing business because khmer will never forget our own language, culture and certain tradition.

i say khmer krom and khmer leu people should demand the same rights to study in khmer school as well to be fair to everybody. what the thai and the vietnamese can do, i think khmer should be able to do the same there. thank you.

according to the heading of this report, the question should be "why not allowing khmer krom people the same freedom to open khmer language school there are there are many khmer krom people living there?" i say really demand that same right by questioning the overseas vietnamese that just opened their school in phnom penh. what is wron with this picture, people?

Ah Kwack you are stupid!

Listen up Ah Khmer-Yuon, The problem with you is you just want this and that from other people. Don't you know that you have to work for it yourself? Nobody is going to everything to you just because you said so, you idiot.

How about Vietnam helping Khmer Krom rebuiding theirs own schools, starting with school inside Khmer pagodas in Travinh, Soc Trang ...?
Or Vietnamese government allows Khmer oversea to finance building Khmer schools in Khmer pagodas in Kampuchea Krom? The culture starts with these basic human right of all peoples regardless of their ethnic origin or religion or languages. Will you allow that to happen? Khmer Krom should pay attention to these strategies instead of spending money on plane tickets and hotels all over the world!!!

No problemo, once you start acting like human being by acknowledge your mistakes and/or confess to your crimes... Only then will you be accepted into a human race and civilization.

Khmer Kampuchea Krom are being treated like a second class citizens. They do not get the same rights the Vietnamese people would get. They are being suppressed, oppressed and denied promising opportunities the same the Vietnamese people get. It is similar to the situation between the Blacks and White Americans in the early 20th century. Good jobs are given to Vietnamese while Khmer Kampuchea Krom get the lower ranges. Developments begin in Vietnamese cities and town while Khmer Kampuchea Krom have to wait. They can't learn Khmer but they treat like minority in their own land. Farming continues to be the future for these poor people. With everything we know, I don't see why HUN SEN and the rest of his CPP people are helping the Vietnamese government to someday rule over Cambodia and put our people through forever suffering. With your conscience for the nation, will continue to support HUN SEN?

Hun Sen and those slaves 2:51AM confess to youn ho chi minh for having youn brothels for khmers in phnom penh. Now they promiss them to stay slaves youn for ever. a kvak slave youn kantop.

I still refuse to believe that the Khmers are "that dumb". But the whole story is not being told. Why is this happening?

Ah Khmer-Yuon is treated properly by our best Pal. We don't need to do anything.
