Prince Thomico who used to express his opinion without fear, said again that in its current evolution, Funcipec fell into a serious danger.

During a meeting with reporters, Prince Thomico apologized in advance, saying that he did not want to talk too long about the Funcinpec issue, out of fear that he will hated even more.

Prince Thomico said the Funcinpec is, currently, in even more serious trouble, and there is little cure to this condition. He made this statement not because he saw the recent defection of Funcinpec spokesman: “I used to say, since long ago, that, if Funcinpec does not bring in reform to find the right formula, it will get worse. But, at that time, when I spoke, they said that I had a big mouth, and they criticized and were angry with me also. But now, those who used to criticize me, those who used to be angry with me, they defected Funcinpec even before I do.” Prince Thomico added: “The current dissension has reached a new point.”

Prince Thomico added that: “In August 2007, I went to Malaysia with Mr. Keo Puth Rasmei (Funcnipec president), and we even discussed a lot to find a strategy to save the human assets, and preventing them from defecting the party as well. The second strategy would consist of spreading human resources to the grass root levels, in order to explain to the voters about the value of the old Funcinpec and that of the current Funcinpec. Nevertheless, I think that, as far as the defection of important Funcinpec officials to the CPP is concerned, I am not surprised at all because this is the trend that I see.”

Prince Thomico said earlier that, currently, political parties have no intention of winning the election to occupy the prime minister position, but that they are only putting effort to become the CPP partner.

Prince Thomico added: “Now as we saw, a number of important SRP leaders have joined the CPP in large number, and for the Funcinpec, even its spokesman resigned from the party to join the CPP.”

Prince Thomico is of the opinion that the defection or rally of politicians are just a normal issues now, and Cambodia is no longer surprised by such move back and forth anymore…
