Cambodia's opposition Human Right Party (HRP)'s steering committee has announced its secret negotiations with opposition democrats, nationalists and royalists have not resulted in unification, local newspaper the Mekong Times reported Tuesday.
The HRP leadership has long been discussing a possible unification with the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) and Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP), said Keat Sokun, deputy HRP president.
"We have worked secretly with locals and those overseas on unification," he said, adding that HRP officials have met with representatives of the SRP and NRP, but the effort has to date not yielded positive results.
Keat Sokun blamed the SRP for the lack of a coherent political opposition, saying that SRP representatives had claimed their party needed no help.
Still, he said the HRP remains adamant that a unified opposition would be best for Cambodia.

It was Prince Ranaridhh who, in the last few months, consistently appealed for unity. The SRP simply said they are not interested. The HRP also said they don't care about his appeal because, to quote Kem Sokha, "we are busy playing the ball with the CPP and Ranariddh just throw the ball into the court to distract us". The HRP has set unachievable demands to achieve in such a short time before the election. Its demand that the SRP and the NRP abolish their self-named party before any alliance can be formed is unreasonable. It is unachievable because from now to the election is too short to have a new party name. The voters won't know this new party. The blame game should be stopped and a broad-based coalition or a concerted or a united stand of some sort must be established. When I said united stand, it means stop attacking each other, the CPP should be only their target of attacks.
The HRP knows its capacity and the SRP also knows its capacity all claim to be patriotic and work for the people, but when it comes to real national interest which is supposed to be a common goal for all, both failed to unite. What does this tell us about the Khmer politicians? As some people rightly said, you need to solve and overcome the problems around the table first before you solve the problems on the table.
I know some are short, long, black, white, pink, whatever…..but all dicks are the same. I'm angry when I see the politicians that most Khmer place their hope on are not prepared to take a step back when negotiating……I call you all ah Kdor.
Don't believe this guy, Keat Sokun. His wife and children never believe him too.
He is bullshit.

Sounds a bit like US Politics.
Sam Rainsy, Tioulong Saumura and their youngest daughter Rachel are, in many ways, the Clintons of Cambodia but are not likely to ever be Cambodia’s First Family because Cambodia is not the US.
Kem Sokha is very personable but Cambodia’s Obama, he ain’t, as much as some people think he is.
He wanted to be on a Rainsy-Kem Sokha ticket, on a fixed-term tenure, leading to the abolition of an eponymous party and in a country that has no fixed term.
Ranariddh is GW Bush with Bill Clinton’s sex drive.
Leaves the old warhorse Hun Sen who is a kind of GW Bush with a brain (John McCain?). Both excel in looking after their cronies (and his family, in the case of Hun Sen)and the rich and pissing on the poor.
Since Cambodia is not the US, Cambodia's Democrats are likely to be out in the cold forever.
Hey remember 1993 election every one at the frontier united? and what happen in 1997?
-Eat the dust man!!!!
Joint with Donb Ranarith if you lost, kiss your political correa good by! If you won kiss your children good by! he will again sell you to CPP the 4th. times!!!
Don't be stupid fool!
