Foreign Minister Hor Namhong plans to sue opposition leader Sam Rainsy over statements made Thursday linking the minister to the Khmer Rouge, an official said Friday.
In a ceremony to commemorate the fall of Phnom Penh to Khmer Rouge guerrillas in 1975, Sam Rainsy said Thursday at least two ministers in the current government were cadres of the regime.
“One of them was secretary and interpreter of Pol Pot and who is senior minister and Minister of Economy and another current deputy prime minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs was director of Beoung Trabek prison,” Sam Rainsy said. “The director of a prison can point someone and this person will be disappeared.”
Keat Chhon is currently the Economy Minister, and Hor Namhong is the Foreign Minister.
Hor Namhong will file a suit against Sam Rainsy for the remarks, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Sim Bunthoeurn. “He will meet with a lawyer this Monday.”
Sam Rainsy could not be reached for comment, because he is abroad.
But Eng Chhay Ieng, SRP secretary-general, said Sam Rainsy had not mentioned Hor Namhong by name, nor accused him of killing anyone.
The party will defend its leader in court, he added.
Keat Chhon could not be reached for comment Friday.

Sam Raingsy got to be very careful in this case, because King Sihanouk once lost and paid to Hor Namhong at least $20,000>
Yes,Samraing has right!!Hor Namhong and Keath Chhun are both khmer rouge leaders!!
Ah Hor Namhong is the man who was every regime. He was also the murder!!and he is Youn Vietcong(Youn Hanoi's Criminal)!!!
veit cong are very good clean up before they are up head in the public.we all knew them to kill us but we can't to catch them .because of them in power and some judge are along with them also .
The most visible criminal is Sihanouk who has misled thousand upon thousands of his followers to join the khmer rouge and ultimately had paid a very heavy price for(death).
"But Eng Chhay Ieng, SRP secretary-general, said Sam Rainsy had not mentioned Hor Namhong by name, nor accused him of killing anyone."
Then who is Sam Rainsy referring to?
One way or the other, the truth will come out.
"Sam Rainsy said. “The director of a prison can point someone and this person will be disappeared.”

And just how did he knows about this? He was not even in the country.
You have three more months to go before the general election. Why do you need to have troubles for something that you are not sure of the veracity? Far from the likelihood of winning, you could be caught up in something which is very hard to prove. Ho Nam Hong was not and can not be compared to Kang Guech Eav alias Duc. Yes you can call him the president of the prisoners! He was reporting to the real Khmer Roug in uniforms. The real power was belonged to the real Khmer Rouge. Yes he is lucky to be alive and now a minister or deputy Prime Minister. Why don't you ask the Court to sommons Hun Sen, Heng Samrin or Chea Sim instead. They were reak Khmer Rouge! Those who had the power to send you to killing field!
1-No, Sam Rainsy has never mentioned the name Hor Nam Hong at all.
2-Withe case of Sihanouk and Hor Nam Hong, Sihanouk had to loose because Khmer Rouge movement from 1970-1979 was under his leadership even he has retired in 1976. Sihanouk has just retired from the movement but he has still approved that movement because he lived with them.
3-Hor Nam Hong is a public face. Therefore he cannot sue anyone for demanding him for clearification at all. If he could sue, the country is no longer respecting multi-parties parliament already. In a multi-parties parliament, opposition party members can ask any question to the government minister.
4-If a minister has a suspected of crime, he must resign first for a full investigations. He cannot sue anyone while he is still in investigation. Until he has cleared his name, then he can sue but for nothing. Areak Prey
But, as everyone has said Cambodia court is not independent
Go down ! ah Hun Sen, a third-year- elementary-school- educated Prime Minister with 28 years of holding power, is the Criminal against humanity in Cambodia and is a former Khmer Rouge soldier in Khmer Rouge Regime, from CPP (Communist Pro youn Party)
ah Hun Sen massacred Khmer people on Sunday 30 march 1997

Wake up moron (3:29). Ah Sam rainsy did not ask and question, but accusing someone being a Khmer Rouge, and he has to disclose who if not Hor Namhong.
KI Media is right that the case will provide free pre election publicity for Sam Rainsy.
I am not too sure though that any publicity is a good publicity. The man may have to apologise, yet again.
Kuoy Pichet
You fuck up above let your concient talk!
Shihanouk and the rest that we all know were Khmere rouge are khmere rouge and they should be in the trail!
The fucking game play with two khmere rouge to cleane their ass by the fucking French court which use to take side with the communist!
I srach your back you scrach mine to I cleane your ass you clean mine!
Do mai ah choymaray Khmere rouge leaders!
its not too hard to spot a Khmer Rough cadet. Who needs veracity when 2 million dead Cambodian spoken already?
Even though the leader of that government Pol Pot himself is elusive and secretive. It was still an internationally recognized government of the time. So only someone stupid cannot find out who these ministers are.
I will be damned if AH HOR NAMHONG has no connection with the Khmer Rouge! What about AH HUN XEN? HENG SAMKIS, CHEA SHRIMP...
Since AH HOR NAMHONG associated with AH HUN SEN and the rest of the Vietcong double agent and that is enough to convict him and there is no point of denying it!
AH HOR NAMHONG is guilty by association!
If Cambodia were the country with roll of law and democracy then we can ask everybody in this world which minister can hold his power for alife-span in difference political idiologie (from monachy-Khmer republic- democrtic kampuchea (killing field) - the people republic of Kampuchea and lately Kingdom of Cambodia) like those man above?
It´s idiot wonder?
If the Khmer Rouges trial were to be held in Hague, then it would have been much neutral and fair to all of us victims of the Khmer Rouges. All of those murderers, and their accomplices, including some foreign governments such as China, Vietnam, to name a few, would have to pay a stiff compensation for the massacre of our people.
This is all a show trial withour any real justice or whatsoever. Well, because this is Cambodia.
3am: I am not even sure that Keat Chhun and Hor Nam Hong were ever born to be Khmers. They are examples of Youns who penetrated to Cambodia seeking to influence its policy.
anyhow, Sam Rainsy might be not dealing with right individuals here. I meant, when Hok Londy demanded certain things done, Mr. Hor delivered without challenging Hok Lundy, I know that's not how Hor Nam Hong is.
by the way, Mr. Hor relates to former Khmer general Sokham Kauch. The root is too deep.
