During a visit to Kandal province on Tuesday 08 April, Prime minister Hun Sen mocked opposition leader Sam Rainsy for the low participation in the demonstration held last Sunday in front of the National Assembly. “He said that he would organize a huge demonstration, but at the end, he could only gather 300 people. This is pathetic,” Hun Sen declared while adding that the opposition leader is in fact much less popular than some comedians. “A simple comedian on the scene could command easily 5,000 spectators,” he said.
For Hun Sen, there are several reasons which explained this low participation. First of all, the Phnom Penh city dwellers “are fed up with the traffic jams caused by these demonstrations.” Next, following the demands made by Sam Rainsy regarding the price inflation of goods, he said that the price inflation “follows the world context and my government has put enough efforts in it.” Finally, to Hun Sen, this anti-inflation demonstration is a strategic error by Sam Rainsy, because the market sellers, the majority of whom are SRP supporters, were the objects of the criticisms raised during the demonstration.” If Sam Rainsy accused the authorities of preventing his party members from joining the demonstration, Hun Sen totally denied it. “The demonstration cannot lower the price of goods, but, on the contrary, we must produce more to take action on prices,” Hun Sen replied.
Nevertheless, Sam Rainsy plans to organize a 2nd demonstration of 01 May, during the celebration of the International Labor day.

Cambodia - Discuss economic policy:
In front of the increase of the costs of raw materials, what solutions, which economic policies?
The crisis of the liberalism, the speculation and the world finance touch now almost all the countries.
The world speculators who lost money in front of the decline of American's dollars and financial products try now to get back their losses on the raw materials market (rice, wheat, the gold.......)
The only effective economic policy in reply to fight against the fatal effects of this crisis of the unbridled liberalism and the wild capitalism is the control and the take-over by the authorities of all the strategic branches of industry and the reduction of the role of the private economic agents.
The solutions proposed by the World Bank and IMF are only protecting the interests of the capitalists and that to deteriorate the difficulties and the poverty of the poor populations.
The government also has to limit and reduce the role of the political parties of oppositions which try especially to take advantage of the situation without bringing real and concrete solutions of the liberalism's crisis by pushing people to the demonstration and to the social riots.
The government can also take an initiative and asks all the countries concerned by this problem of the increase of raw materials or the regional countries to organize an emergency meeting to find together solutions of this food urgency.
It is here that we appreciate to belong in a set of countries. Because the effective solution to face this problem of the food urgency been born the world speculation can be only coordinated and collective.

Your ambiguous liberalism economic commenting here is unrealistic. To counter realistic way to curb the current inflation in Cambodia is to follow Sam Rainsy's five measurements.
In his five measurements, he doesn't reject the inflation tendency caused by the world's liberalization of capitalistic economy, his five measurements effectively deal with the containment or incrementalism policy by government primarily has to accept to loss some profit, or increase salary, or curtain corruption activities etc
Hun Sen leadership has also spent some national budget to curb inflation, but this spending has no transparency and cannot last for the long term solution.
Five measurements of SRP is essential and it is potentially afraid of losing face by the government if they follow them. So in order to activate and provide public education from these five measurements, public non-violent demonstration is the best option for SRP.
Your analysis doesn't stand on true economic academia as well as democratic principle. Go back to your scratched thought and re-articulate it again.

The solutions which proposes sam rainsy are traditional receipts proposed by the wild capitalists and the unbridled liberalism who are only deteriorating the economic situation of the poor population and throw back these poor men in the poverty.
These liberal solutions provoke in the poor countries which adopted the political pluralism and the democracy the social riots, the civil wars and the reversal of the governments.
These solutions return the unpopular governments and benefit only the political parties of opposition and bring nothing to the difficulties of life of the poorest.

I said once before and I said it again: everyone knows that Hun Xen was born arrogant; he's an ill-bred man. His vulgar nsture is unchageable. He likes to provoke anger and violence whenever he wants to win over his opponent. His camarades and him are the good dogs of Vietnam, that never bite the hand that feed them, that's why Vietnam will protect and help its dogs no matter what happens. And we will see that again during the upcoming election: Vietnam will send million of Youns to vote for Hun Xen (to be continued).
Real leader talks substances, not insults.
In this financial crisis and of the world speculation result of the wild capitalism and the unbridled liberalism, without control, the solutions are in the restoring of the principles economy’s socialist.
The economic leading part has to return to authorities, to state, by the nationalization of all the important branches of industry of the country, the limitation of the role of the private economic agents, the strict supervision of the economic liberalism, the limitation in the political principles of democracy, political pluralism, and human rights of subversion; and the political censorship to avoid the social riots.
The solutions proposed by the World Bank, the IMF and WTO are effective that for rich countries and not for poor countries which have no enough money to hold the shock and make social securities and public subsidies until the economic crisis passes.
The experience shows that In times of crisis and of social confusions which get ready, nothing is effective that authoritarian, coercive measures, and repressions.

Sorry to say this, but Sam Rainsy just doesn't get it. One can only hope he won't win the elections.
To have a leader is better that to have a ruler like Hun Xen, who is close to being an absolute ruler. A leader is copassionate while a ruler is arrogant. A leader who win his presidency by means of a free and fair election is more respectable than ruler who is installed in power by another stronger nation. A puppet does not deserve honor and respect. It's very hard to find any possible solution to cure the disease of Hun Xen government because the CPP is a very big nest loading a lot of VIP=VERY IGNORANT PEOPLE. A disease that starts from the head (of a government) is uncurable.
