Dear Compatriots,
These are the maps showing the areas around the Preah Vihear Temple. I received these maps from Mr. Thhai Makarar. This is a personal view of Mr. Thhai Makarar, but Khmerization found his personal view to be very relevant and consistent with the established views that the areas around Preah Vihear site had been encroached significantly by Thailand.
The map on the bottom is a Google aerial map of Cambodia in 2008 showing the borderlines as drawn by the U.S Army in 1954 superposed on top of the borderlines indicated by Google in 2008 between Cambodia and Thailand. The 1954 U.S Map clearly shows that Cambodia's borderlines were deep inside Thailand but in 2008 the borderlines were pushed deep inside Cambodia. This means that Thailand had encroached significantly around the Preah Vihear site deep inside Cambodia's territories. The top map is the U.S Army map, drawn in 1954. Please read the maps and judge for yourself.

Cambodia's borders had been demarcated and agreed long before your parents were born. if you use the present maps, drawn by your Viet matsers, Cambodian lands would be ceded to the neighbors in large chunks. Thank you for this very important work. The Cambodian government must look at any possible evidences that can be use for our advantage before the meeting with the UNESCO committees in Paris next week. Clearly, they are encroaching into our borderline and using it to strangle our development. UNESCO, please tell Thailand to stop bully Cambodia.
If Thailand do not respect our common border agreed up by the Siam-France treaty of 1907 that says Preah Vihear and the lands nearby are khmer territories, we should reclaim back our lands lost long before the last 1907 traety. These include Prachin Bury (Bach-Chem Borey, Korat (Nokor Reach), Surin etc..We should take this position at next meeting with Thailand. Also we tell the thai that if they do not get out of the lands surrounding Preah Vihear temple we won't let them come to worship at Preah Vihear temple. WE close down Preah Vihear on the north side.Our government must be smart also.Can we be smarter that the thai.
khmer ought to reclaim all of northeast thailand back. this is nothing compared to the large chunk of land cambodia lost to the neighbors, i mean all three neighbors took khmer land because cambodia let them. cambodia should do everything to protect our territory and what is left of cambodia today. when cambodia take thailand to the paris meeting again, soon, make sure to use this US army 1954 maps or earlier, the better even going back to 1904 or 1907 because these neighboring countries of cambodia do really took advantage of cambodia civil conflict for their own territorial gain. remember this has always been their tactic to do this when cambodia is pre-occupied with civil conflict or something along that line. well, this is why we have older maps to help keep track of this kind of taking advantage of cambodia. i say go with the older maps and nothing else can be acceptable by international standard. old published maps of cambodia from 1954 or earlier had preserved the real agreement with cambodia at the time when all parties seemed to agreed to it. so, please use the older maps, always..., never the newer ones as they will claim this or that about it. older maps don't lie. to find older maps of cambodia,just ask your local librarian all over the world they have them safe forever of all the world's countries and maps. god bless cambodia.

Please note that the border from Google Earth is not authoritative. It has no legal value and is usually imprecise. It is therefore not representative to compare the borders, and does not reflect who is occupying the land.
To compare the past and present situation, it would be interesting to get a topographic map of thailand of the area and see where they place the border (probably at the same place than the American 1954 map).
Knowing the area, it's heavily mined, steep and difficult to access. But I guess it will soon be deforested by RCAF like the rest of Preah Vihear province...
So, let's focus on the facts. Who want to go there for a walk in the mountains with a GPS? ;-)

Hey! Why the Thaicong still insist on going to France to negotiate on the issue of Khmer Phrea Vihear temple? As far as I am concerned the issue of Khmer Phrea Vihear temple is not strictly between the Thaicong and Cambodian but it is an international one which requires the UNESCO to recognize as the world heritage site!
Since Cambodia became the French protectorate in 1863 and it is the French who protect Cambodian sovereignty! So any shortcut by the Thaicong government want to bypass the French is a no because the French understand more about Cambodian geography than the Thaicong government!

Well, it's hard to negotiate in Asia because some country is biased for Thailand and some for Cambodia. Therefore, they must go out of the continent to negotiate the dispute.
As for French protectorate, there is no such thing, but French control. However, this is now ancient history. Today, Cambodia is more like Vietcong protectorate. Thus, Vietcong should be a referee here.

i like to say that although google maps are not officially recognize by cambodia the world, tourists who are visiting theiland and cambodia are using them. so when we see the thai encroachment on cambodia by way of them drawing the map or trying to convince uneducated tourists so and so or this and that about cambodia, we have to counter their arrogant way for our own way by also educating tourists about cambodia and stupid thing about thailand as well. what goes around does come around. isn't it a small world! enjoy cambodia.
