The Cambodian Center for Human Right (CCHR) and the Cambodian Journalist Club have issued two separate statements concurrently expressing their concerns about the safety of a Radio Free Asia reporter who had, in the past, filed numerous reports on corruption in the judicial systems, reports about land disputes between the people and the rich and the powerful people, reports about illegal logging and about irregularities relating to the complaints of the people.

Mr. Lem Piseth, a Radio Free Asia reporter based in the northwest of the country, has received numerous death threats through anonymous telephone calls and text messages.

In just the beginning of April, Lem Piseth had already received at least two death threats from anonymous caller and on the 10th of April, unknown person or persons had placed 6 bullets in the front gate of his home in Battambang city.

CCHR and the Cambodian Journalist Club have said that they are concerned about the safety of the reporter and appealed to the authority to take measures to ensure that his safety is protected.

These corrupt officials only know the language of killings. In the West, journalists can put a lot of people, including senior govt. officials, in jails through their reports. They can expose govt.'s incompetence and corruption which can force the PM or president to resign in disgrace. In Cambodia, when journalists report the truth they are faced with death threats, violence, or worst, murder.

A man can only change his mind, not his nature. It doesn't matter what position a man holds, a man still looks cheap in the public eye if a man behaves inappropiately. A cocky, arrogant from birth and ill-bred man like this puppetic ruler does not deserve respect. Everyone can see how vicious he looks. The evil spirit has deely rooted in his brains since he joined the Khmer Rouge in 1967. Everyone khnows that a Khmer Rouge is an atheist. An atheist is not a religious man, and so is Hun Xen. A religious man believes in Bon and Bab, but Hun Xen doesn't. He pretends to pray or join in a traditional ceremony just to fool the eyes of the puplic; it is only an exterior gesture of a hypocrite. Only the fools might have believe that, the decent ones don't. He is the most dangerous fool among the fools who will bring no happiness to the people. Here is what the Buhhda said: "He who walks in the company of fools suffer a long way; company with a fool as with an
enemy, is always painful; company with the wise is happiness, like meeting with kinsfolks."
"If a fool be associated with a wise man even all his life, he will perceive the truth as little as a spoon perceives the taste of soup."
"If an intelligent man be associated for one minute only with a wise man, he will perceive the truth as a tongue perceives the taste of soup." Extracted from a book, 'The Compassionate Buhhda', page 56.

Maybe, but why would we want to protect a liar and prosecute the righteous?

Freedom of the press sometime's will cause you your life when speaking against the notorious Kwack. This man and his family is now marked for death. He needs to seek refuge elsewhere. Clearly, freedom of the press in Khmer is not so free after all.

Anonymous 11:26, the police/gov't themselves is the one that are threatening the journalist. To do so will only incriminate yourself to the crime. These illiterate's doesn't know that our today technology can trace the phone call. What do you expect when you have a gun toting illiterate's who has no regards to human life.

i think educating others is very important when communicating because so many things i.e., concepts, ideas, system, development, etc are too commonly new to most cambodian mentality. i mean, it is good to adopt new concepts or ideas and learn them, however, some people coined it rude or disrespectful as it is strange or new to them. so this is where educating them come into play. it is about time that cambodian people get in the system with the rest of the world, although a certain aspect of our identity ought to be safeguard as khmer are unique people in the world just like other unique culture and tradition of every nation on the face of the earth. this is why learn about other's, and differences are very cruciable for all of mankind to get along, and cambodian people are no exceptions.

True, and the westerner should get a lot more education before they come to Cambodia and causing all sorts of trouble here.

Phone calls can be traced, but who will do it if the culprits are the police, judges and the prosecutors themselvs. Look at the one who threatened Chea Vichea before he was killed with phone text messages. The phone number was displayed. Someone knew the number belong to a senior police officer, but no one was taking any action against him.

Anyway...
They can't said it's Heng Pov anymore.
He is in Jail...

Phone's companies belongs to CPP's members.
So Who dare to help to trace the phone call?
NOT ME...
They play with gun.
Life can cost only 100$ in Cambodia.
Even if we know who kill who,
Nobody can't put him in the JAIL.
