PHNOM PENH, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The South Korean Embassy has denied the accusation by the Cambodian government that its country's marriage brokerage companies in Cambodia engaged in human trafficking, a national media said on Monday.
Ambassador Shin Hyun-suk expressed regret that Cambodian officials had used the term "human trafficking" to identify the way that was legally permitted to arrange "married life in the era of globalization," English-Khmer language newspaper the Cambodian Daily quoted his statement as saying.
"I have so far never heard those words of threats, kidnapping, deception and abuse, as well as using force or taking a chance when the victims are weak, for the purpose of making business in marriages between Cambodians and Koreans. They all get married out of their own free will, according to the procedures of both countries," he said.
However, he also admitted that "some aspects of the system of international marriages need to be improved and corrected."
The Cambodian government indefinitely banned marriages between Cambodians and foreigners from all countries on March 29, following the release of an International Organization of Migration report warning of the vulnerability of Cambodian brides, who have been flocking to South Korea in increasing numbers over the past few years.

Appropriate mechanism needs to be established to handle crisis arising from false marriage. However, indifinite ban to international marriage surely deprive somone's privacy right or right to marriage, and by law is unconstitutional.
America has been living with issuing visas for false couples for years, and denying a great numbers of visas as well, yet they can't prevent American citizens from getting married to Cambodians or other nationals, and ultimately brining their spouses to the States. Cambodia needs to rethink about how it should handle current situations by making sure it well protects Cambodian women from abuse by their prospective foreign husbands but also that it will not impign people's right to marry. Maybe agreement or cooperative mechanism between both countries need to be set up to address to this problem.
Be ware of the wicked people. It's been publically known that the "denial" has been a tool used in self defense. They will never admit their sinful act even if you could provide a proof. They will have many different reasons to explain. Shut down that business to protect the you Khmer women from being slaves in a foreign land. To die with family at home is a human. To die as a slave in a foreign land is more like a cow. Please protect our women from these predators before it's too late.

This is NOT true. All of them did NOT marry the Koreans with a passion and it's NOT out of their free will. It's out of their "naivete" and perhaps by the persuaisve manipulation. The language of the two races are a great obstacle. And the Koreans seem to persistant and persevere in getting Khmer woman? Why not the Americans? Thais? Laotians? Japanese? Malaysians? and many others?
Don't wonder, the of Cambodia government did those accusations, are just their tricks of corruption in order to take bribes from marriage services!!
If all of this matter is the truth,I believe the South Korean Government will take care this matter.
