The Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper reported that, during a provincial meeting held in the afternoon of 07 May 2008, Cambodian officials and Cambodian armed forces in Banteay Meanchey province have criticized the Thai armed forces along the border for violating the law and the human rights, and they departed from the understanding agreements between the Thai and Cambodian governments. In other words, the Thai say one thing, but do the exact opposite of what they say. Therefore, all Cambodian civilian and armed forces officials involved are asked to send this message to their Thai counterparts during all border meetings or bilateral meetings, and ask the Thai party to provide justice for the (Cambodian) civilian victims. Cambodian armed forces blamed that whatever the former Thai prime ministers and Samak Sundaravej, the current Thai PM, said, the lower ranking Thai officials never respect what their PM promised (to Cambodia). These Thai officials are still using violence that led to the killings of Cambodian people when the latter cross the border illegally.

It is a risky business to cross the border illegally. The border official looks bad if they turn blind eye on illegal immigrants. They will be blamed for everything, from drug smuggling to trafficking. It is not possible for anyone to build their career that way. They will be replaced in no time.

The armed force of Hun Xen is only strong enough to oppress its own people. When confronting the enemy, Hun Xen's armed force appear to be corward.
