Cambodian plane crash denied

A senior Cambodian military official has backed off earlier claims that a plane has crashed in the remote province of Kampot.

Earlier, Kung Mony, Kampot's deputy military commander said, "I can confirm there was a foreign plane that crashed in Cambodia in the province of Kampot this morning."

However, the deputy commander of the southeast Asian national Air Force has now retracted his statement.

He said, "I would like to make a clarification. I earlier received firm information from the airport that there was a plane crash, but now I cannot either confirm or deny that that was the case."

Further to this another official at Phnom Penh's international airport outrightly denied the incident saying, "We haven't had any plane crash."

Contrary to this villagers in the district said they had heard a loud explosion and since the alarm was raised soldiers and police have been searching the area.

How can the government not know if a plane had crashed or missing? If a plane took off and not found later, then it's missing or crash somewhere.

1st of all the Phnom Penh International airport shall have the 1st hand news should there was a plane disappeared from its radar.

Government would not have a clue of the crash because they did not control the radar at the PPIA, and therefore to blame the government is inappropriate.

Government is there to help to locate the plane or crash site, coordinate the search and rescue should there is one. However, one thing the government can do is to presure the PPIA and its operator to install an appropriate, latest technology ]radar] should feel that one they have now at the PPIA is not accurate and incapacitated to control all flights and flight paths.

True but when we know someone like Ah Spam Rainxy or Ah Khmer-Yuon aboard, it is better for us not to know about it. That way, we can have a little more peace in Cambodia.

please wait a moment for update. we can infer from the news that there was explosion occurred in the mentioned region. but Cambodia is not USA, the military commander can not get the information promptly from anything happen. look at last year case, thousands of soldiers under direct command from Prime Minister tried very hard to search for a plan crashed in Kampot as well but finally it was the private helicopter who found it.
