3- As several great western journalists observed and have written in abundance during that time and in the years following the super-diabolical Putsch of 18 March 1970, Lon Nol surrounded himself with occultists (sic!), astrologers and other “fortune tellers” who never stopped telling him in loud voice, after learned astrological calculations: “Prime Minister, it is not (just) your rank that the Heaven and History reserve for you. You are destined to reign as the unique and absolute Master of Kampuchea, and even beyond the borders of Kampuchea.”
(And thus, Lon Nol dreamt of founding a Khmer-Mon Empire!!)

Long Nol is long dead. Yet hatred for him and his associates continues. Is outlasting him not a triumph already? It is very sad.
Can we claim to be Buddhist? Buddha said that greed (lobha), hatred or anger (dosa) and delusion or ignorance (moha) are the three unwholesome roots of evil(akusala-mūla).
Perhaps we continue to suffer more than Lon Nol if we continue to let the ghost of Lon Nol haunt us and nurture our hatred for him day and night, year after year.

This episode sounds very much like the so-called assassination attempt on Hun Sen's life in Siem Reap in 1998. A rocket propelled grenade (RPG) exploded and killed some villagers living along the road used by Hun Sen's convoy.
The CPP media went ballistic for weeks and accused some opposition parties of being behind the assassination attempt on Hun Sen's life. Another hand grenade also exploded inside Hun Sen's residence in Phnom Penh after his security guards apparently and timely evacuated from the compound.
The interesting thing about the RPG attack on Hun Sen's convoy was that, based on the CPP and its controlled media propaganda, the RPG still kept changing its flight path long after it exploded. All CPP mouthpieces kept making conflicting statements and reports with one another over how and where the RPG exploded.
Lon Nol is long gone, but some people still use his name and legacy to rewrite the history of the past events to suit their political agenda in the present time. He must have been quite pissed off in his grave to hear that he is still involved in politics.
In September 30,1965, after Bung Karno of Indonesia was kicked out by his right wing general,Suharto....Norodom Xihanouk was given a speech in a public.
He said :" I'm very tired to work & serve Cambodia, why is general Lon Nol becoming a Khmer-Suharto by overthrow me from the Power,I'm waiting for that ?"

Until now when his life is close the door of death, the thing called Sihanouk never realizes that he is the one who has harmed the nation the most. Had he felf a little remorse and apologizes to the people for what he had done, I believe his people wouldn't codemn him to death like this. As I alwys say: regardless of levels of education or classes, any man can be a fool if he acts foolishly, and Sihanouk is an example. Sihanouk can only see Lon Nol's faults, but never thing that Lon Nol followed his instructions after he ran away from the country for his own safety when he saw the danger of not being able to solve the problems with the Vietcong. He left behind all the mess to Lon Nol to solve them. What a shameless King is he! Why doesn't just shut up!

Sihanouk is not a buddhist as he claims or looks. Everything the man does is opposite of buddhism principles: anger, grudge, curses, hatred, greed, unforgiveness, etc. He just use buddhism to serve his own interest.
