A number of political party presidents expressed various reactions regarding the progress of the election for the upcoming 4th legislative mandate, when their competitor is not even present inside Cambodia.
Sam Rainsy, SRP President, said that he wants to see all the competitors having equal opportunity to present themselves to the voters, for example, in the case of Prince Ranariddh, a formula must be found where his lawsuit can be suspended temporarily so that he can compete in the election and so that the election is fair.
Sam Rainsy said: “For the competition to carry a weight, and that it bears importance on the Cambodian political arena, if a competitor is not present in the country, then the election has no value, you can say that it has no meaning as well. However, if the competitor is a minor one, then the situation wouldn’t change that much.”
Kem Sokha, HRP President, said that because the Cambodian court is politically biased, Prince Ranariddh lost his freedom to participate in the election, and this is unfair for the election.
Kem Sokha said: “Therefore, it could affect his freedom to participate in the election, because we can see that the court is not truly independent.”
However, Ok Socheat, an advisor of the Funcinpec party, said that the fairness or lack of fairness toward the prince during the upcoming election depends entirely on the prince himself, i.e. if he returns back to the Funcinpec folds again, then his problem will be solved.
CPP MP Cheam Yeap said that, even without the presence of the prince, the election can still be conducted with transparency. However, if the prince wants to obtain seats at the National Assembly, he should return back home to participate in the election.
Cheam Yeap said: “If the prince is not here, this does not mean that there is no transparency, even if he comes back, the transparency still wouldn’t be 100% either. This depends entirely on each political party only, and I believe that the prince should return back home, like the NEC and the election law stipulated if he must fight to compete to obtain seats at the National Assembly.”
Nevertheless, Tep Nytha, NEC secretary-general, said that the NEC made preparations for the election according to the law and the rules, and the personal presence of a political party president (during the election) has nothing to do with the NEC.
He indicated also that up to 11 May, there were 8 parties which registered to compete in the upcoming 27 July 2008 election.

That is the stupidest suggestion I ever heard of. What the idiots proposing is to make political members above the law, or at the least a temporary immunity. What type of equality is that for the rest of the people.
Its alway good to hear the democratic speak of fairness.
But when the CPP, speaks, its alway like a pig's brain speaking behind those human faces. What ashame an so called "high official" , highly educated, or government official, or so callled " grown adult " still speaks like a child. It is so very childish to hear some of these "high official " speaks.
It very shameful, Even some child can behave way better then these currupted CPP official.
Thank again for all the democratic party, for their hard work, and true color.
Yeah, fairness to a group of thugs who can go around and shoot everyone and then hide inside their political party. If you think that that is going to happen, you got to be out of you mind, motherfucker (10:43)!
What law does 8:20 AM talking about? The CCP's jungle laws that only protect the CPP and persecute opponents? Give everyone equal chance to compete. You know that a case against Ranariddh was politically motivated, that's because of the CPP's jungle laws.
11:15, the one who hides tho most is your Hun Xen. Hun Xen is just like a wounded cow that is frightened by a flying crow nearby. You know why he spends a lot of the national budget on his thousands of bodyguards? Because without their protection, your strongman among the weak would not dare to drag his arse out of his tiger lair!
Nonsense, 8:27, strongman never hide, only fagots like Ah Xam Rainxy does. Just watch, he'll disappeared as usual soon enough.
8:27PM,

What good is patriot? It had only kept everyone in poverty. Who the hell would wanted that?

Hey 11:46PM, what good is a traitor Hun Xen. Are the majority of Cambodian people well off now?
Dear Readers:
May I remind you that in th 80s where there were total control by CPP and VN troops present in srok khmer, Cpp nor vn did not dare to challenge our khmerism, yet today they openly do the opposite b/c they feel immune with total power.
For CPP and VN to be gone forever, khmers must rise up and literally demolish their VN's institutions in our country starting by these three here.
Chan,
True, but we don't want that. We want VN to be our protectorate for Cambodia, just like the French did before 1954. That way, the Thai won't steal Khmer land.
Chan! in the 80s where there was in total controled by the CPP and VN troop, there were and iligal occupation and goverment and we had the resitents at the frontier!
Now, because of the UN intervention and never finish what they should do about the frontier and the justice system. We now live in an open prison and allowed to be killed if only one by one and or in the open electioned season!
If we do anything right now we the one in the wrong side of the fucking law and lot of out freedome fighters were killed in the masacre of 1997!
May, mother fucker would have the same fat like us!
OMG! the tree stooges try to make special immunity laws for their parties' members, hahaha, LOL, hahaha, ROFLMAO, ...
