Phnom Penh, Jun 13, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- France's oil and gas company TOTAL and China National Offshore Oil Corporation CNOOC are expected to sign a deal with Cambodia to explore oil and gas on the mainland of Cambodia.
The signing ceremony will take place this year, following the conclusion of Cambodia's parliamentary election scheduled on July 27.
Currently, other oil and gas companies in the world such as Moeco, Jogmec, GS Gallex, Pan Orient and Inpex are working with Cambodian National Petroleum Authority (CNPA) to reach agreements on oil and gas exploration in the country.

Cambodia has to force them to build oil refinery and other oil related industry in Cambodia. If they don't want to just tell them to go see somewhere else.

agree, savoir faire from the west is always good for cambodia development. i have the feeling that cambodia is sitting on a huge gas reserve, given its basin topograghy features like the huge tonle sap lake, and mostly lower geographical features of the country like the mighty mekong river and its numerous tributaries, etc. for example, at koh sotin island on the mekong river just outside of the city of kompong cham, during low water and dry season, there are natural gas vent that astonished the local for some farmers there have no idea what it is and they often associate strange phnenomenon to their animist believes. well, natural gas are prevalent in cambodia's low land area, especially during dry or low water season when the areas are being exposed. i wouldn't be surprise if total or france struck a finding or china found something in cambodia. thanks to civil war and isolation for so long, cambodia is actual blessed with its hidden natural resources waiting to be discovered soon or later. god bless cambodia.
All deals must be signed ASAP. We don't want to wait another 200 years for that. People suffers long enough. Ah Khmer-Yuon will seek way against relief for Khmer people. If any of them is found in the way, don't asked any question, just shoot them point blank.

What I can tell you at this point is that the discovery of oil in Cambodia won't be a blessing (it's a curse).
