The Lonnolian men and women, the surviving Khmer Republican men and women and their offspring - a large number of whom are currently in France, the USA, etc… and the other portion in Cambodia - had high hopes again after they received the latest news in which my Wife, my Son (the king) and I will leave our Homeland to live, once again, in exile, as the Khmer Monarchy had to die again.
DPA, the German news media, even went on to write that my beloved Son (H.M. King Sihamoni, our Sovereign) would abdicate (sic!) in a not too distant future –sic!–.
The funny thing was that DPA also wrote that King Sihamoni and his Wife (sic!) would settle themselves modestly in France.
Certainly, DPA gave to my 2 recent texts written in French a meaning that I, N. Sihanouk, never had the intention of giving.
No, it was not about abdication, but about exile without protestation, in case when in Phnom Penh, they would abolish the Monarchy.
While waiting for this abolition, we had, for several months already, elaborated the following program:
King N. Sihamoni and his parents will ask our people the permission to leave our country on 01 August 2008 (in order) to be present in Beijing for the official opening of the Olympic games which the PRC will host and organize.
Next, King Sihamoni will have a general checkup at the Beijing Central State Hospital. After this checkup, H.M. will return to Cambodia.
My wife and I will stay in Beijing for some time, to undergo general checkup and (obtain) medical care.
