Cambodians were yesterday dancing in the streets over UNESCO’s decision to list Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage Site, despite Thailand’s last minute attempts to scupper the registration because of a long-running territorial squabble.
Thousands danced, sang and waved Cambodian flags, chanting “Long live Preah Vihear temple!” in response to news that UNESCO had granted the temple World Heritage Site status, AP reported.
“This is a very auspicious day for us. We’re very delighted,” said Ti Vansi, a medical student who joined his peers in skipping class to hold a celebration rally, according to AP.
Prime Minister Hun Sen called the temple’s designation “a new pride for the people of Cambodia,” in a statement.
Hor Namhong, Cambodia’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, yesterday told reporters that the UNESCO decision had been unanimous, with all 21 members of the World Heritage Site Committee voting to register Preah Vihear as a World Heritage Site.
“This is a success of the Cambodian government … and also a success of Cambodian civilization and culture,” he said.
Hor Namhong emphasized that the listing of Preah Vihear does not affect sovereignty, with neither nation losing “even one centimeter” of territory. He criticized the politicization of the Preah Vihear issue, branding those raising allegations of encroachment “stupid politicians.” Hor Namhong claimed relations between Cambodia and Thailand remain good, though he declined to say when the nearest border crossing to Preah Vihear will be reopened.
The border crossing was closed after Thai protestors gathered there demanding the “return” of Preah Vihear to Thailand, along with Siem Reap and Battambang provinces.

UNESCO noted that “the property proposed for inscription is reduced and comprises only the Temple of Preah Vihear and not the wider promontory with its cliffs and caves.”
This meant that “the integrity of the property has to a degree been compromised by the absence of part of the promontory from the perimeter of the property,” because “the attributes of the property comprise the temple complex.”

The country functions as a modern state at present. It is bound by international legal and diplomatic mores which it has to respect, or face the consequences.
These "consequences" can take the shape of sanctions, or even war. A war between neighbouring countries could be very painful as the conflict and suffering will be passed on from one generation to another. Such a rift cannot be healed in a short space of time.

On May 29, 2008, we learned that a man’s wife had to sell two of their 7 children to bail her husband out from [police] jail. While the Senate had shoveled off the corruption law proposals and buried them under their desks, the corruption activities are being fully conducted by government officials. Irrefutably, there has been no sign of any intervention from Samdach Akkak Moha Sena Bat Dey Dek Cho Hun Sen.
The political campaign for the fourth National General Election has begun and so did the illegal political maneuvering made by the Hun Sen government: vote buying, threats made against innocent citizens, political activists, and journalists. The elected officials from the opposition parties are being intimidated, extorted, ransomed, and blackmailed, and others have been threatened by lawsuits and jail. On June 28, 2008, while Deputy Secretary General, Mu Sochau and her SRP supporters were actively campaigning in Kampot province, the CPP Deputy Village Chief rode his motorcycle at full speed toward her in an attempt to run her over.
To our Khmer compatriots, when you consider the threat we face from the Hun Sen government who are hoping to not only use any means possible to strengthen their grip on power but also flooded our country with the illegal Vietnamese immigrants and has allowed the neighboring countries to encroach into our land and draw a new borders, this is clearly one of the most important elections of our lifetime. Each and every one of us, as a Khmer people, has a moral and ethical responsibility to contribute what is in the best interest for our Khmer people and Khmer nation.

Why Thai national are so heartless? A lot of land have been taken away from Cambodia, including Bangkok; Cambodian calls the lake of Kok plant. Many looted artifact are found in Thailand. A Buddhist nation that should have a mercy for the poor Cambodian. Your culture, in every aspect are the blue print copy from Cambodia. Corrections, Richie, Siam(Thailand) has always existed alongside Burma and Cambodia.Only they were paying tributes to the more powerful Khmer Kings, who had God like status.According to historians, the Khmer Kings spent all the country's wealth on the temples. Hundreds of thousands of them, till their coffers went dry.The Thai kings took advantage of their plight and ransacked all the Cambodian cities, including the famed Angkor Wat.In 1341.AD.
All the gold, precious materials, including, dancing girls were hauled to Thai cities and hence began the Thai Dynasties.This was in an era, when Khmers had already embraced Buddhism and adopted Pali writings.The Asparas you see in Thai cultures are are from the Khmer Culture.And Kick Boxing too. Though there's some controversy in this claim.
But visit the temples and inscriptions on the stone walls at the Angkor.And you'll get a better picture.These were built around the 10th century, long before Siam became a regional power.

The answer to your question is: NO. Thai is not a pure race and it was mixed before it came Thai. Thai government should revise the country's education system with regard to history. The wrong and fake history that is being taught to Thai younger generations will one day put Thailand and its people in danger, a giant danger. All Thais should learn to accept the facts. They are not superior than anyone else. They were just a small tribe that was expelled from China and came to ask for mercy from Cambodia (the then Khmer empire). However, they betrayed and fought until Thailand's existen in the 13th century. This is the fact and Thai people should not be ignorrant.
I am sick of ah Nan Chao Siems, man. If Ah Nan chao Siems want to see where they originated from, look at their ancestors carved out on the Angkor Wat gallery. Dang it. The Siems are pathetic land-grabbers and they aint superior anything. They are STUPID and only take advantage of the Khmer people when we are weak. For example, Ah Nan Chao Siems killed numerous Cambodian refugees in front of little children in Khao I Dang refugee camp. This was how the coward Siems killed the Khmer refugees: First they point their guns at the Khmer victims, then they started kicking the victims around until eventually the victims fell to the ground. Then they started stepping on the victims' throats to suffocated them. When the victims died, they spit on the bodies and then they burried the victims in the freshly dug shallow graves. This memory of Ah Nan Chao Siems must not be forgotten by the Khmer for all eternity. F*ck all ah Nan Chao Siems. You need to get the hell out of the Khmer territory fools. Go back to Nan Chao fools.
