During the evening of yesterday, a politician VIP said that the Sangkum Reastr Niyum (SRN) eliminated all political parties and left Cambodia with one single party: the SRN, and this starting from 1954 until 1969.
For these unfair words, I ask to bring the following corrections and tell the truth to our people and to history:
1- The SRN started in 1955, not 1954.
2- The SRN did not eliminate other Khmer political parties. In 1955, there was a general election under the CIC supervision with India (a neutral country) as the president, Poland representing the communist bloc, and Canada representing the western bloc.
Therefore, the SRN victory was obtained under free and pluralist democracy, and it was also under 100% supervision from the International community.
The general election results which were announced by CIC were as follows:
Therefore, in 1958, a new general election was held. The results were as follows:
The SRN received even more votes than before. The Democrats who did not want to lose face, did not dare compete against the SRN. The Khmer-Vietminh People’s Party participated in the election, but it only received 1% of the votes.
3- Prince Sisowath Monireth, my uncle, told the Lon Nol, Sirik Matak group of the National Renovation Party and the Democrat Party that: The SRN fort is very strong, whoever wants to destroy the SRN fort by attacking it from the outside, will not succeed. Only by joining the SRN that they can destroy the SRN fort as they wished.
That was why the Lon Nol, Sirik Matak etc… group joined the SRN to destroy it, by undertaking a coup d’état on 18 March 1970, while I was not present in the country.
Therefore, saying that Norodom Sihanouk made the SRN as a single party is extremely unfair. It was the Lon Nol, Sirik Matak, etc… group which merged their parties to the SRN fort, in order to destroy it from inside while I was not present inside the country.
4- Regarding Prince Sisowath Yutevong, I took very good care of him. When he wanted to stay in the king’s residence in Kep city, in Tonle Bati, I, as the King of Cambodia, gave him and his French wife, everything he pleased. My uncle, Prince Sisowath Monireth, told my mother and me that: Sisowath Yutevong and his wife behave like the king and the queen, this is not democratic!
I am praying for the 3 Buddhist gems to protect our beloved Compatriots, Brothers and sisters, Children, Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, and that you may be blessed with the 5 Buddhist wishes.

It is undeniable by far the SRN was more democratic than any political history in cambodia.
Cambodia was well advanced in economy in the region in sangkum Reast Niyum.
However, current political strategies for survival of Cambodia needed to be focused by any political party, for the trend of global economy and new form of invasion.

What Hun Sen said about Sihanouk is correct. Sihanouk needs not defend the SRN. The SRN was the single political party and Sihanouk controlled every thing and I mean everything. From head of state to radio announcer and movie director, you name it he had his hand on it.
Having said this, Hun Sen seemed to forget he's not bad himself. Yes like he said he belongs to the 21st century not the 60s Sihanouk's era. Hun Sen and his cliques managed to destroy and sell Cambodia natural resources, chopping off trees, allow and let his master Vietnam encroach Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The whole Cambodia's island Khos Tral now in Vietnam's hand a reward for putting Hun Sen in power and maintain him there. It looks like all of Cambodia's neighbours want a share of Cambodia under Hun Sen, and all of them are super rich now.
The fact that there are some political parties in Cambodia today is not due to Hun Sen's good will, but due to the fact that it's the 21st century like he said, and the Cold War is over, the World Powers have no more rivalries in Cambodia and of the International pressure on Hun Sen's head…..etc….
In conclusion these two men, Sihanouk and Hun Sen are the same. The reason why they are able to stay in power for that long and in the process manage to degrade/destroy Cambodia is because the Khmer people blindly condone their rules and allow them to stay in power and in the end it's the people who suffer. These men are nothing without the support of the people/peasants so wake up Khmer people you are the power, you can decide your country's destiny, if the corrupt leaders take the country to disaster, then have a strong will to make change for the country, don't sit there and dream for it to change by itself and think that it's karma, because it won't happen. Don't be a donkey.
So as Saddam Hussen's democratic regime who got over 90% the votes in every election.

Hun Sen needs to leave King Father alone. If the King didn't win the Preah Vihear from ah Kapik Siam we would have lost our Preah Viheah to ah thieve Siams until today.

There was no DEMOCRACY during SANGKUM REAS NIYUM era .Members of the assembly were appointed by the party(the sangkum reas niyum) to their district for people to vote.Vote or no vote did not matter,they all won because there were no competition from other parties .Whoever brave enough to talk back to Sihanouk will be regard as TRAITOR(KBOT CHEAT).So sihanouk was at the top by himself to decide national affair.All his cabinet have to do is say yes(krap tool).He was such an idiot chief of state.He proclaim neutrality but allowed vietcong to stay in Cambodia.He cut off relation with America and established relation with Vietcong and alot more....Until the true nationalist can not put up with his stupidity anymore and finally they kicked him out and when he became homeless ,he decided to join his deadly enemies(the khmer rouge).After khmer rouge victory,they land him and his entirely family in house arrest.What a dumbass chief of state he was.What can you expect from an elementary education ?
The problem with Sihanouk is his lacking self confidence. He know he's a dictator but don't want to admit it. Not all dictators are bad. Lee Kwan Yew, Fidel Castro, Chiang Kai Chiek,..., and Saddam Hussen are good example of good dictator.
