The opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) and Human Rights Party (HRP) are to jointly file a complaint with the UN over alleged irregularities during polling for the recent national election.
Representatives of the two parties plan to visit the UN in New York, as well as Washington, Paris and Brussels to present evidence of the alleged irregularities, which mainly concern controversial “1018” forms the parties claim allowed voter fraud.
“I will go to lodge a complaint with the international community not to recognize the election,” Sam Rainsy vowed yesterday at a press conference.
He said that filing a complaint with the UN should lead to another poll in areas where “1018” forms were issued or anywhere where names were missing from voter lists.
HRP Secretary General Ou Chan Roth, who sat next to Sam Rainsy throughout the press conference, expressed his party’s support for lodging the complaint. “We will continue being shoulder to shoulder with the SRP to protest against the election results. We will also join with SRP to protest in Europe and at the UN,” he said.
Sam Rainsy displayed documents he claimed show “1018” forms were issued by local officials. He claimed that CPP Sangkat (Commune) chiefs were the main agents of electoral fraud, a crime he alleged the National Election Commission (NEC) has turned a blind eye to.
But the NEC’s position is that complaints about the election should be dealt with in Cambodia. “The election process in Cambodia was conducted in line with the election law of Cambodia. Any complaint or unacceptable problem must be addressed under Cambodian law,” said Tep Nytha, secretary general of the NEC.
NEC concerns were echoed by CPP lawmaker Cheam Yeap.
“The SRP and HRP should give time to the NEC and the Constitutional Council to settle any unsatisfactory problems before protesting to the international community,” he said. “Furthermore, representatives of the UN, European Union, and the international community also observed the election and assessed that the election in Cambodia was better than before.”

This is time of national emergency. We have Siam armed invaders occupying our territories and natioal treasures. Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha should first put national interests above their parties' interests. They should be now actively playing a role to advocate the ownership of Cambodian border temples--as much, if not more than their efforts in showing their dissatisfaction with the results of the elections. Every semegment of society came out in drove to lend support to the issue. This collective negligence will not be overlooked by the Cambodian electorate, and opposition's image will be not be short of being called hypocrites.

Hero turn to be zero if CPP loses the battle at Preah Vihear. They were easy giving-in to Thailands days before the election by listing Prerah Vihear Temple with some 30 meters around the temple, based on which, the rest are being proclaimed by Thais. What was the stupid act! CPP's main target at the time was to win the heard of the people that they are the heros.
Long live the heros. Now you should show your ability to solve the problem you created, otherwise you're surely a villain.

The political game of CPP ref to the temple issue and the land surrounding the temple have now walked to the grave which need all Khmers to concentrate attentively.

CPP has never been about territory integrity or Khmer independence. They got you all fooled to believing if you voted for them, you vote for Cambodia's Preah Vihear when in fact Preah Vihear is already Cambodian historically and legally.
So they try to frigthen nationalist with this lie, but the truth is any competent Cambodian government rule by the Cambodian people will do an absolute stunning job not only protecting and our border against Thailand but may also annulled all border supplement with Vietnam signed after 92 that does not respect the Paris Agreement.
So the Sam Rainsy should they choose to do this job, is not in anyway a harm to Cambodia losing Preah Vihear and Khmer people should understand that to protect themselves from scams play by the CPP.
There is no time to wait, when democracy of the people is violated, we must work to address it or we will give chance to people losing faith in real freedom and choice. It is clear this choice has been violated by the government thus must be redressed and compensated for the Cambodian citizens.
I support SRP and HRP 100% on their fight for democracy. This does not end here, it was since 93, 98,2003,2008 and it will continue to plague our people's rights to 2012 and beyond as long as these NEC and CPP people are allow freedom to manipulate the people's choice.

You need to understand that Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha are just playing games in order to get some powers in the yet-to-be formed National Assembly.
No body would care about this complaints to the UN or the EU. The UN or the EU will not look into this very small and petty case- there is no mechanism as such

Thai was perceived that Preah Vihear is an issue for CPP towards a land slide victory in July 2008, and so did the SRP, however, I personally don't think that RGC is in any way and manner has chosen Preah Vihear [our national treasure] and served as the trump card for political advance.
During the election campaign, all minority parties and SRP were too busy to attack one another, to claim and counter-claim that one party is better than the other, count numbers of chicken before eggs even hacthing and ignore the facts that whether their policies were indeed in the right direction and warrant votes from its members, supporters and non-supporters alike.
5 years is a long way to go for another shot at the top job, but it is also short [in time] if one fails to take a few steps back and look at what went wrong in this election and try to come up with combination of effective strategies for 2013 election.
By all means, rejection or acceptant of the election result is a democratic way in which has been carrying out by all democratic country around the world.
It is indeed the unique case of post election drama in Cambodia, which its citizens have accustomed to it.
This is the 3rd consecutive stand-off [1998,2003 and 2008] and I personally don't think it is the last time either should all political parties concerned don't have any Political Will to solve the issue and move forward, and look into any amendment to Election Law and the structure of NEC

Dear Cambodian Compatriots at all levels,
In terms of moving to the positive ways for Cambodia and for 2013-Election, here are what we must do:
1/. Review all regulation of election Laws. And all election laws must be set up by only Cambodian nations, not like currently are being set up by Vietnam. Otherwise, again and again all Khmers are just working to compliance Vietnam's policies (Work Krom Nem Youn), regardless all of any party.
2/. Fire, jail, or punish whoever deleted voters on July 27, 2008. Why? because if Cambodian Suprime court does not take action, then Cambodia is Lawless country. Then it exactly means that The Name is Cambodia, but the Body is Vietnameses. If Cambodian suprime Court let these criminals free, then NO MORE FUTURE OF CAMBODIA. Cambodia has alots of trashes to be cleaned by all these criminals. Why keep criminals works for the spirit of Cambodia and let good Khmer students work and clean trashes. Just think 1 minute about this issue, Thanks!.
3/. Proof all of these over 2 Million voters-record, and claim to United Nation and ASIAN to assist again.
4/. Hire New NEC workers, train them at the broads to prepare for next election, 2013. The sooner is the better.

Prime Minister Hun Sen is the symbol of unity. who can ensure peace, stability and prosperity in Cambodia.
Cambodia need more development to convince its both neightbors who always try to swallow our soil. I think now is not in time to make our country collapsed. We need to show that we are only one to push thai army back from our country. We also want to show this strengt to Vietname. We need peace and we need more investor to boost our country economic toward.
Our GDP: if comparing to other country in region (asean) in 2007 we only can do better than Burma. Income per capita (per person) Cambodia is only $521/year, Lao more than $600/ year, Vietname is about $800/year, Thailand is more than $3000/year. As forcus of our economist maybe we can reach to about $700 this year.
I am not a politician, and I am cambodian. I have never voted for CPP, SRS...ect. I just vote for small party which can not effert to win. I don't want my eyes to be blind just because of politics.
What i am concern is: Pls. think about NATION, 14 MILLIONS PEOPLE as your priority at first not for your selve.
