MOST AUTHORITATIVE EXPERT ON CAMBODIA :
FRAUDS WERE SYSTEMATIC AND MASSIVE.
SRP PROBABLE WINNER IN A FAIR AND FREE ELECTION

Excerpts from Editorial in the latest issue (August-September 2008) of Espace Cambodge-Infos, a French-language publication that enjoys the support of François Ponchaud, a respected lifelong French-born but Khmer-fluent missionary, who is probably the most authoritative expert on Cambodia known as "the Catholic priest who brought the Cambodian genocide to the attention of the world" (Alan Channer).

"Election frauds were systematic and massive, to use an opposition's expression, which corresponds to the reality as observed on the spot (…). The SRP, the only viable opposition party, [would be] the probable winner had the elections been fair and free. However, because all the political, police, military and economic power is concentrated in the hands of the CPP, a victory of the opposition would have probably degenerated into civil war because those who are currently in power are not at all prepared to give up their source of immense profits."

Ghost helps 10 seats, anti-Thai sentiment helps 50 seats, Khmer Rouge help 10 seats,...the rest helped by Vietnamese voters.

Hun Sen should thank western people who care so much about human rights and the Khmer Rouge issues.

Khmer Rouge documentaries raised by the third party prove to be an even more effective tool to support CPP propaganda since 1979.

The West doesn't like to support anyone who rule for 29 years, but their coverage on Khmer Rouge issues give Hun Sen for at least another ten years to attract new voters. Before, only my grandparents and parents are CPP supporters. Now, my young brothers and sisters also thank CPP.

Khmer Rouge coverage show Cambodians that at least we are better than the Khmer Rouge and CPP is their god who saved them, which reinforce the 1st out of 8 CPP poster.

Before, Cambodians were not interested in Khmer Rouge. Even the most famous and successful movie maker E Vong Hem lost $30,000 for Khmer Rouge film in 2004.

Too much dream!

Now that's a bit of a stretch. Even the SRP concedes that the CPP won the election. They dispute 20 seats or so.

SRP loves to complaint about nonsense because they love to waste our poor taxpayers moneys.

Why is the SRP complaining about a few irregularities? It is not going to help them win the election. They are too far behind. This is abusing the taxpayers moneys!

Village chief knock on people door and put strong control on ordinary people even in Phnom Penh as the way Khmer Rouge did.

Cambodians should learn the history what would happen when people lose hope and lose the trust of fair and free election.

Thailand is chaos now because Thaksin bought vote. Buying vote bring illegitimate government and bring instability and shamefullness in the world.

Too bad the Missionary couldn't buy enough votes for Ah Scam Rainxy to win. The majority is still Buddhist here.

Nice try though, better luck next time!

Congratulation to CPP's absolute power!

However, don't be too happy!

Cambodian people now is really having higher expectation from CPP to the extent that CPP will completely lost in 2013.

Even though many young voters were excluded this time, you can't cheat them again.

Remember, during Hun Sen speeches at Universities Graduate, only those in the few front lines listened to him.

The rest were chatting and showing their mobile phone.
