Thai foreign minister Tej Bunnag's abrupt resignation sent a strong signal to Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej that his Cabinet's days are numbered.
It is an open secret that Samak had made a personal request to HM the King to allow Tej to serve as foreign minister in his government.
At the time, the former foreign minister served as an advisor to the principal royal secretary to HM the King. His resignation represents Samak's lowest point in his six-month term.
Throughout yesterday afternoon, Samak tried unsuccessfully to prevent Tej's resignation, which was effective immediately.
Tej's appointment had reclaimed Thailand's foreign policy credibility and confidence after months of questionable conduct by his predecessor, Noppadon Pattama.
Noppadon's role in the Preah Vihear Temple dispute stirred up protests both in Bangkok and the border provinces adjacent to the temple. It also led to the ruling by the Constitution Court that the joint communique he signed with Cambodia in May was against the constitution. It was the first such case in Thailand's diplomatic history.
During Tej's short 40-day stint, he managed to improve the morale of the ministry's staff and rehabilitated three senior officials to their former positions, in particular director general of protocol Veerachai Phalasai.
He also took part in the two rounds of negotiations over the temple, which ended with positive results. Both sides agreed to meet further.
The next round of talks was postponed due to the political situation in Thailand. Tej also accompanied Samak to China during the Olympics opening ceremony and visited Laos and Burma.

I agree that a clear cut referendum suggested by PPP's parliamentarians is the best way to normailize Thailand. Otherwise any protest could always appear after election because the looser never recognises they are weak...
Let the people judge by referendum!
If it is the case in Thailand, SRP and HRP in Cambodia will follow this but that's for sure, it is unlikely happened in Cambodia since there is totally different features of politics between Cambodia and Thailand.
This Thai government will be collapsed soon, It is not capable to be the King's rival.
The powerful Kings are always annoyed when they are very old and very sick. But that will be over soon after his death. Taksin will be able to return soon too.
Oh My poor Koun Chau khmers...Another foreign minister resigned. So how about the previous negotiations??? oh my poor koun chau Siam swallows land Os huey ...........What a pity!!!!
Koun Chau Father tells you that father is a stray dog living in communist countries cannot do anything to help you koun chau. Now koun chau can follow suit like Father self-exile living in China or Norht Korea......

Sure its the time Thailand will be destroy, destroy!!! by their own sin. Wish Thailand devided and Khmer will take back lands, Surin and other parts will be return back to Khmer. Bravo !!! PAD did very good job, keep camping and kick out Thai Gov. all Khmer will suport you.
We'll take back the Preah Vihear, followed by Angkor Wat after the country returns to normalcy.
Preah Vihear and Angkor Wat temples belong to us (Thailand).
In your dream! wow! people around the world know very well who built all the temples, in the old time Siam king built only prostitudes to keep BANKCOCK alive.
You Siam has no shame at all, Siam has too many educate people but all became stupit, fool, stole the land from Khmer and told the world that most of the temples are belong to you Siam, but people the whole planet knew how bad you Siam people.
One more things, to all Siam please study again and be the real human on earth but not animal.
I agreed we Thai should do a good thing, and now maybe Thai never come back to normal but more devided. As we all Thai know how many ethnic whoes living in Thailand, and its time for them to get up and fight with us real Thai. example, Thai muslim, Khmer Surin, Burmese and Loa, these people is really want to see Thai disappear from the world map.
We must stop invade our good Khmer neighbour so in future we could live together as brother. If we still do like this we will lose every things, remember we are more famous in the world compare to all asians, but now it is really bad, because our army did stupid action, why our army said we protect our land, what land? We are invading our neighbour... I should not say this but it's the reallity. We must come back to our land and let solve the government.
Wish all our Thai be smart and look a round the world, there is no way for us to get land or temple from other country, the international law will punish us again if Cambodia take us to the UN.
Be smart the defend minister, pull back our army and stay peace.

If you think Thai muslim, Khmer Surin, Burmese and Loa, these people is really want to see Thai disappear from the world map.
This is a hopeless and pessitimistic about your unity.
Don't you feel ashame of Vietam's unity.
Vietnam now is the president of UN Security Council.
U.S., France, China...many respect Vietnamese army.
Thailand should build good relationship with Cambodia to deal with the growing power of Vietnam.
