Kem Sokha’s party asks the government to faithfully apply the stipulations of the 1991 Paris Peace Accords and it wishes to see 23 October celebrated as a holiday in the kingdom.
On the eve of the 17th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Peace Accords, the HRP sent an open letter to the government, inviting it to respect the main elements of these accords, in particular: “the respect of the human rights and pluralism democracy.”
For the party led by Kem Sokha, the government left aside the 23 October date for the benefit of the 07 January, the date marking the “liberation” of Cambodians from the Pol Pot regime. The HRP proposes that “23 October be celebrated as a national holiday,” while pushing the signatory countries to respect the spirit of this accord, especially regarding “the national sovereignty and territorial integrity (of Cambodia).”
The HRP took also the opportunity to denounce the maneuver undertaken by Thailand – “one of the signatory states, which is bordering with Cambodia, which should pull out its soldiers from the Cambodian territory, in conformance to Article 18 the Paris Accords.”

Too many holidays in Cambodia. Cambodia has a holiday almost every month and sometimes twice a month.
very relevant commnet 5:12. You finally show you've got a brain.
Why not??? Do you mean nobody in Cambodia cares for this agreement until now? Unbelievable!
Who care about corrupted UN shits?
Jan 7 is freedom day for Cambodia.
Jan 7 is freedom my ass.
i think this is a good idea. i supported this! god bless cambodia!
too much holiday! compared to developped countries in the world, one could say that in Cambodia people don't want to work. how you can attract serious besiness to invest in the country? they can not pay for all that! Khmer new year days, christmas day, Om Touk, King birthday, Independent day, Jan. 7th? day, .... it's really scary for production industries...
What is lacking here is Khmer-Thai Friendship holiday, Khmer-Lao Friendship holiday, and a couple more Khmer-Viet holidays. We don't need no corrupted UN holiday.
Jan 7 is freedom my ass.
