My personal feeling is that in order to avoid another coup by top military officiers, the current Thai government needs to make the border clash happen at any cost. So, the Thai public would focus more on border clash than the coup itself. It will bring a bad image to the coup planners if they wish to go while border stand off still continues. It would make thing complicated for coup planners to mobilize the troops for the coup. The public would punish them. That's why Thai PM needs to get closer to the local Thai commanders. PM won't prefer clash, but just a stand off and sometimes fighting because soldiers are human and their patiece is limited. It's a political game in Thai politics. The question is do Khmers want to play the game with them or do we really need to think about the territory? The latter is to have international mediation, but Thai government won't choose it at least until the threat from coup planners is over.
Whether Khmer government wants to play the game with them or not, lives of Khmer soldiers need to be protected and treated fairly.
If a large scale conflict happens, Thais would be united, and the military will take the government completely. Somchai never wants this to happen either. It's a tough situation there. If coup fails, there is a high risk for the coup planners and those behind them.
In my opinion, Khmers should not involve with their game for the best interest of the nation. Thais ALWAYS get advantages while we were in troubles. Why not we? We should focus more on economic development and leave the works to the international communities because we have law and peace accord. Just like Singapore, the more we have strong economics and humand resources, no one would touch us. Hun Sen should really think about this.
The Siamese should stop teach false history to its population because it will later or sooner turn against itself. It is like threw sand against the fort wind. Now the thais look like a bunch of monkey and pathetic fanatic, bind to a history that no body else in the world know but itself. The thais leaders just a bunch of monkey that practice a tactics or method dated of stone age. Laying method may work sometime but not for ever. Nation built on laying is like built a home of sand. The Siamese must know that it is not anymore age of monkey but age of high technical and information. The thais cant continue its laying method to fool the world, it only make it look like a bunch of monkeys. What mental health of people born and live in laying of its origin and its history. In a modern society, do such the thing is a crime. If it happens in occident society, people will revolt against it but unfortunately the thais seem to well accept it and go through well with it.
The Siamese taught its population to hate Khmer and look down on Khmer while historically its identity bind to Khmer. What other identity or origin the thais may has if it not a bunch of bandits t’ais, with no culture and identity, living of banditism and of killing
looks like we used siamese to fight in the front line. you see they walked differently. looks like they were pushed by khmer warriors. their army was submitted to ankgor empire. history tells that they were just slave.
1. The siamese then known to the khmer were different to the Tai/thai. The Simaese then were Mon and Kuoy who were later on Tai-nized. By this time Thai did not exist in the region; they were still in China's Nan Chau. So the sculptures/images on the Angor wat gallery were not Thai as we know today. Siamese always has the serious complex inferior because of that, this is the reason and instinctively they try to get rid of it by trying to show its superior to other whether it is real or imagine. So pathetic isn’t it? Thais were a bunch of bandit and now because they were mixed with Khmer deum and borrow civilization from Khmer, they become a human race and a nation instead of a bunch of monkey but apparently these bandits want to return to the origin of its ancestors, bandits
The Syam Kuk warriors are not the Siamese. Just watch the Soryathai movie, the Siamese armies dressed like the Chinese armies in that Thai movie.
They were undisciplined just like they are now, especially their commanders.

You need strong gov.t ready to protect the people! That's how things work! Guess what your gov.t has done enough to face such incidents. Folks this incident happens everywhere: you're weak and you will be exploited! Ask your gov.t since most of you despire this gov.t very much, right?
Look at what this gov.t has done: ruling for over two decades and military is no better than forces to suppress the local people lawlessly and shamelessly. Coz the military serves their purpose and ambition well: suppress and kill those who dare to speak out against their animals instinct no better than animal instinct. Protecting only own pride the associates and clans interest!
And when it comes to war(actually this war can threaten their power. Ask them that they worry if the Thai fighting jet plans to target their camp in PP?)That's exactly what they worry about.
And you see why the ruling gov.t refuses the mediation by third party or bringing the case to UN or be ruled by ICJ or seeking legal assistance from Paris Peace Accord? Coz this will revise all the treaties with YOUN-gov.t and land ceded to YOUn so far. As well as the illegal YOUN-immigrants living and flowing rampantly into Cambodia.
If the ruling gov.t is not brailess, illiterate and using the animals'instinct, what else as better words to decribe their leadership?

What they care is: now majority of people speak out not in their favor. And their solution: use the media to make up propagandas responding to all the accusation or last resort "shut the hell up of the protesters by murdering".
And what Cambodia needs is to upgrade to another level: the conscience of professionalizm, the supporting system valuing the intellectuals:put the intellectuals on top, and most importantly enforce the law-everyone is under the law not just some memorandum and sound like Hun Sen is the only scholar!!!(Sic)

What the hell are u talking about??
Very amazing thing to notice from the sculptures on the angkor wat gallery: the Khmer Emperial Army about one thousand year ago had breast- armoured jackets ("bullet-proof jackets as we know today") to wear to protect them in the battles.
Now the Khmer army under Hun Sen, the soldiers do not even have proper shoes to wear.
Where are the women soldiers?

the siem had come a long way from their mediocre beginning as noted on the wall of angkor wat. and now they think they are something, often ignoring their mediocre beginning. if siem can change, i'm sure khmer can change,too. who's to say people can't change, especially in the way they dress!
