SRP Congratulation Letter to US President-elect Obama

Phnom Penh, 5 November, 2008

Dear President-elect Obama,

We, Members of Parliament of the Sam Rainsy Party, the leading opposition party in Cambodia sincerely congratulate you and all Americans living in the USA and abroad for making the choice for change. Your victory today represents a triumph for democratic values, for an America that will embrace the differences and diversities of her people. Your call for change was heard by millions and we are confident that actions will be taken in the months ahead to ensure that the message of hope you displayed throughout your presidential campaign will be realized.

There are many hurdles that lay ahead but with your leadership we know they will be overcome. Your election signifies real change in the political landscape and a commitment to improve the country for all citizens, regardless of race, creed or social standing.

Your election in America resonates deeply with the Cambodian people. America leads the world in the promotion of civil liberties, and Cambodia is its partner in this mission.

Sincerely,

(Signed) SRP Members of Parliament

Americans responded to Obama's call for change. Cambodians did not to SRP's. Why?

I'm so thrill right now that I had voted for Obama and now that he wins this election. I can't wait to be in Washington DC for his inauguratrion in January. That what you call the real democracy.. Government is by the people and for the people.

We were told by SRP leaders in LB as well as in Lowell to vote for McCaine. We organized the campagne to support McCaine and the Black people mad us, especially those who live in LB. Right now, they are all know that whose candididate was we support. Shameless.....

Change is needed too in Cambodia, but perhaps not the one proposed by SRP. That's why it didn't win.

I also remembered that SRP is in fact supporter of McCaine because the latter is strongly against Hun Sen. What a really flip flop manner and courtesy-giver!!!

M.Obama , we note that you spoke a lot of change during your election campaign.

Now that you are elected a president, those who like the true change and the true Justice wish to see M.Bush and his former advisers and some members of CIA judged for war crimes in front of a criminal court to have to make false proofs and false charges of the existence of the massive destructions weapons to wage war in Iraq.
Because the war in Iraq decided by M.Bush and his administration is made against the opinion of the UNO and is a violation of the international legality.
