Phnom Penh - Up to 12 Taiwanese tourists were injured in Cambodia on Sunday when a bridge they were crossing collapsed, officials said. All members of the tour group, which was making its way to a tour boat on the Tonle Sap River near Siem Reap northern Cambodia, had to be retrieved from the water when the recently constructed bridge collapsed about 1000 am (0300 GMT), a Tourism Department spokesperson said.

"The 12 people sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital after the accident," the spokesperson said.

"The members of the group were all aged between 50 and 60 and were making their way to a tour boat for a sight-seeing trip," he added.

The two men and 10 women were released from hospital after treatment, the spokesperson said.

I'm not surprised because I know how Ah Khmer srok Khmer build houses. They would steal cement and steel to make money on the side. That's why the bridge collapsed because Ah Khmer srok Khmer build it with loose sand held together with a little cement.

If the collapsed bridge does not have Hun Sen's name on it, sue the Roads & Bridges Department at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport!

Then, sell their villas, lands, Lexus and Land Cruser SUVs to compensate the injured tourists and to rebuild the collapsed bridge.

If the bridge has Hun Sen's name on it, let's quietly send the injured tourists back to their country. The collapsed bridge can then be rebuilt using Donors' pledged money for the coming year.

Problem solved!

this is a wake up call to use american, japan, german, chinese engineering to build cambodia's poor infrastructure. stop given contract to people who can't seem to build to last a life-time. i don't understand why cambodia don't study from america and japan and most other EU countries because, just look at america enginuity; american builds the best infrastructure in the world. i hope america can assistance and teach that skill to cambodia so we can build good insfrastructure in cambodia, too. god bless cambodia.
