Nhiek Bun Chhay told The Phnom Penh Post that he never said that his party will merge with the NRP at all. He also declined to speculate about the potential unification between the two parties in the future. He said: “We have no plan to merge with the NRP. It is not yet time to think about this issue.” Chhim Siek Leng, standing NRP president, said that he did not know about the plan to merge the two parties at this point in time, and he said that such plan may exist in the future for the two royalist parties. Chhim Siek Leng said that questions should be asked to You Hockry, the NRP secretary-general.
