HOW MANY SEATS?
The SRP and HRP together won 29 of the total 123 seats in the National Assembly in the national elections in July 2008. Party officials said they expect this figure would increase to between 37 and 40 in 2013 if the parties were to join forces.
The ruling CPP party has said it does not feel threatened by a proposed merger of what it sees as two uncompetitive opposition parties

THE ruling Cambodian People's Party said this week it is unconcerned by a proposed merger between the opposition Sam Rainsy Party and Kem Sokha's Human Rights Party, which is expected to be formally announced today.

Minister of Information and CPP spokesman Khieu Kanharith said in an interview with the Post Tuesday that Prime Minister Hun Sen is prepared to face off against a strong opposition when national elections are held in 2013.

That said, Khieu Khanharith also suggested that the CPP doubts the proposed alliance will last that long.

"We don't know how long an alliance of the SRP and the HRP will survive," he said. "If they can unite, then the more intelligent ticket [the CPP or the opposition] will be the winner."

The two largest opposition parties are expected to announce today that they have agreed in principle to merge into one party in order to re-unite voters who support the opposition but have been divided by past disputes between the parties.
"We don't know how long an alliance of the SRP and the HRP will survive. " - Khieu Kanharith
SRP President Sam Rainsy has confirmed that he has been involved in discussions with HRP President Kem Sokha about the agreement but declined to give detailed information about the alliance before the parties had issued a joint statement.

The push to merge came following a call last month by Kem Sokha to unite the party in an effort to better challenge the political dominance of the CPP.

Details to be decided
Yem Ponhearith, a lawmaker and secretary general of the HRP, told the Post that the two parties will meet later this year to iron out the details of the proposed alliance.

"We have agreed in principle, and we hope that we will move forward as one party with one list of parliamentarian candidates," he said.

Puthea Hang, executive director of the NGO Neutral and Impartial Committee for Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia, said it makes sense for the two parties to explore the possibility of an alliance because of the expected increase in support such a move would generate in 2013.

"I think that this is a good political strategy that can gather support from those who lost faith during last year's election," Puthea Hang said.

What kind are the symbol of the 2 parties. The one is belonging to Mr. Sam Rainsy personally and other to the Human Right activity.

Dude!

They will create a new symbol that are none belong to either. They will create the logo that belong to only one when they merge. Something that is related more to national unity. Not one individual party.

The opposition is aligned with America and Westerners, so they will not succeed.

America may be the strongest country in the world today, but it is falling apart. Just look at the financial crisis it is going through.

Furthermore, America has a $10 trillion national debt, and $2 trillion of that is owed to China. China can make America bankrupt at any time just by liquidating its US debt securities.

That's why they allowed the U.S. to borrow so much money. They don't need to nuke the U.S. to destroy it. China can do so by pulling the rug from under the Americans' feet and cause them to self-destruct through chaos and anarchy.

Everyone knows that China, which has a growing economy while everyone else is in recession, will be the world's next superpower. China's philosophy is based on nationalism and moderation. That's why it is the oldest living civilization in the world.

Is Mr.Sam Raingsy or Kem Sokha Khmer? Can they properly use Khmer language in speaking, reading and writing?

The statement is in Khmer from top down but the duet signed in European language?

This is the flaw that Siam politicians and its King had done better than their past master, the Khmains.

Khmain as enemy or Khmain as Khmer in Siam dialect?

This tiny symbol means a world of Khmer identity.

You are correct, 8:22 PM. Their signatures reveal that they are not Khmer.

They only have Khmer bodies but their heads are slaves of their white masters.

I thought Khmer people don't like foreigners ruling our country, right?

Agreed with 8:22 and 8:31.

There are a lot of fake Khmers who constantly try to prevent Khmer people from running their own country so that they can sell the country to their bleu-eyed goddess.

Khmer Patriot,Ph.D.,

China is not Cambodia,so is USA.

USA has built its nation and wealth by borrowing from others. Its economic system has based on capitalist market or use other people money.
Other hand, China uses communist planned supply on open market demand.

So what Khmer Patriot's country economic system has /is based on on all these years?

Is it both hands open toward donors on both feet at the people neck?

Real PhD does not speak or sounds out like this.

Please check to see whether your tongue has bone?

My advice of the simbolic sign is to think deeply about Red-Ant style. Only red ant can controle termites. Termites I mean any bad or evil foreigners exist in Cambodia, termites will bite them. Termite symbole is tronger that Baboo Root. We all know what I mean.

Red-Ant.

There should have been leadership training to build up stenght in each individual party in order to maintain and sustain the intended Movement.
Leadership Training in all levels.
There are two prongs of leadership: political leadership and spiritual leadership. One without another, no achievemnt will be done.
Cambodian is cruelly lacking of spiritual leadership since centuries.
Spiritual leadership will srenghten and sustain political leadership.
Without it, catastrophic results are bound to happen in any country and with any political parties.
For the sake of our Cambodian people life, please please please Learn the lesson from our pasts, the pasts, far and near.

please remember to change the word "opposing or oppositon" to a better term "opponent" party because not only it sound harmless, it is well-suited. i think, like in the USA, having two "opponents" in election is typical in any country. take for instance, the democratic party and the republican party in the USA. however, that doesn't mean they are two separate gov't entities; they are just "opponents" who compete in the election to win the majority representative votes or popular vote; however, in the USA, representative votes matter more than popular vote. it may be different in cambodia, i'm not sure! god bless.

The best way to deal with KI-Media's troller/sabotager like 8:49PM is to ignore it. Do not attempt to reply, respond or interact.

If we all don't give that attention seeker attention, it will die out by itself....

The one-eye gangster Viet puppet Hun Sen regime in Phnom Penh does not care about Khmer.

Ah Hun Sen will let all those Khmers left over from the Killing Fields die systematically while moving the Viet populace in, assisting them and caring for them as per the secret agreements and treaties ah Hun Sen had signed with the Viet.

So please don't talk about the future of Khmer and Khmer's children anymore. There will not be native Khmers left to care for or to worry about anymore. Look at what the life expectancy of all of those Khmers in the country now - Anybody knows?

In the end, there will be just Viet in Cambodia and maybe a very few Khmer left over but vietnamized from head to toe....

Look around in Phnom Penh now...and tell me what you see...

If all of you SOB want to help Cambodia, you'd better do it and do it pretty soon...or you will have nothing left to save at all...

Hope all of you SOB gets this message!!!
